    BG Stop Squeal

I’ve used it on a set of Napa pads that wouldn’t quiet down (this was at least 15 years ago too, so idk if the formula has changed but same method etc) My experience was it quieted the pads for about a week, maybe 2. Then it’d be right back. It wasn’t worth the hassle. Idk how much it costs...

known problems of Mazda skyactiv 2.5 hard re-starting?

Cold start is perfectly fine. I haven’t done anything to attempt to make this better. It’s a once in a blue moon type of thing and almost seems like an only extremely heat soaked thing, like summer time heat, ac running, underhood temps high type of thing.

    Tire Slightly Damaged on Install

I’ve seen way worse than that still seal…or come off used but you’d have never known there was so much damage (and they weren’t leaking, only taken off due to wear). Retreads are notorious for this. Some of them stiffen up so bad with the new tread glued on that they are difficult to mount. They...

Tire Rack tests new CONTINENTAL SecureContact AW ...

Haven’t seen or read this review yet but judging by the looks of the tread they’re too aggressive for an all around all season tire.

    Auto Industry Employment

~2001: About two years at a quick lube shop while in high school. 2003: About 10 years at a large dealer group. Started as the GM / Subaru shop help, moved to the Chrysler / Jeep team (I was there in the era that Chrysler closed up a lot of shops, mine included), moved back to the Hyundai /...

1988 F-150 4.9 Clutch and Timing gear replacement

I have to do gm “iron duke” timing gears quite often and that’s exactly what I do…punch, drill, and tap two holes. Then I use an old steering wheel puller. We install all metal gears to replace the fiber ones as well. Some guys just go wild with an air hammer and destroy the fiber gear as well...

Screw in Tire: Is it too close to shoulder to be patched?

Mark the questionable punctures on the inner sidewall and check them with a bottle of soapy water when you rotate them if they worry you. I at least mark them on the inner sidewall where tire crayon won’t rub off, then if I get a random leak I can tell if it was from a questionable repaired...

Tie rod or wheel bearing more likely for left to right clunk?

Swaybar links may very well be your noise but will have nothing to do with your 3 and 9 o’clock play when shaking your front end down. That is going to be tie rods and is a safety issue…just need to figure out if it’s inner or outer. If it’s inners you may as well do all 4 tie rods. If it’s...

Screw in Tire: Is it too close to shoulder to be patched?

I haven’t read all the replies, but someone will patch it properly. Many shops may say it’s outside the repair zone, but call around and send some pictures. Some will say a plug is better in this location as a patch may not sit flat and would lead to the patch failing. I’ve patched closer to...

    2026 Mazda CX-5 Engine Oil

Been using any 0w20 I have on hand in my 2017 6 with 2.5 skyactiv. It does not lose use or burn any oil and I’m at 120plus miles. 5k oil change intervals.

Ram Promaster (FIAT Ducato) cargo/service vans-good or not?

driving wise, promasters are a bit much for people who are driving with no regard or accountability in my opinion. They’re torquey and fwd, not very confident in wet weather, can get squirrelly real easy. Mechanically they have a lot of pricey repairs. Ours are driven hard, really really hard...

Worm Style Hose Clamps with Hose Liner

I always pick this style when I replace clamps that weren’t constant tension. I feel better cinching them down tight as they don’t tear up the hose they are securing.

    Rental Review: Toyota Sienna LE

We have an odyssey. Wanted to at least consider and test drive a Sienna, but at the time they weren’t even available to test drive. Everything showing up off a truck was already spoken for, so no test drive unless you put a deposit down and it was “yours”. I have ridden in a friends and with...

    Mazda ATF-FZ Alternatives (List)

I’ve been using aisin for the last 2-3 years with no problem. It doesn’t look/smell worse after a drain/fill interval than the oem did. I used oem for the first few years until Mazda quit giving me a deal on parts at a local dealer. Mazdas parts are a bit $$ so I started buying online and...

dealer used dot 4 for brake flush. car manual lists LV

I’d research if it’s compatible or not. We have a fleet of Mercedes metris that we’ve put DOT 4 in for 3 years or so. The cap says DOT 4 +. I asked our parts to get 4 + but they insist 4 was ok. We are supposedly the only facility with metris needing master cylinders replaced, and we’ve...

Does anyone buy from Tire Rack anymore? It doesn't seem worth it......

Why do you have it set up for sticker weights on a steel wheel? You’ll get a better balance with clip/hammer on weights on the outer lip. Not that this affects road force, but heavy:big wheels and tires with a lip on the wheel I’d definitely be putting clip ons if I was worried about the...
