    Roaring/whirring noise under truck - 2019 RAM 1500

@OVERKILL myself and some friends just had a laugh over that very Cambodian Tire bolt on junk. A mutual friend has a cheapo car with all of that junk bolted on, we laugh at him at his expense.

What are you doing right now?

The horse show starts today. We've been up since 5am local time and my girl is up at 8am. As for wildfire smoke, We've had a good year, less than a handful of days with only a light haze. Some years have been really bad but not this one.

    forgot about Baldwin filters

I buy from rockauto. I've been running Baldwin/Hastings (save for 1 Fleetguard and 1 Napa) on my 6.7 in its 9 years. Its still kicking fwiw.

What are you doing right now?

Made it to the horse show yesterday. 800km towing roughly 15k. Every time we tow with the 6.7 Cummins and AS69RC, I'm amazed. No drama, just power. I'm not tracking fuel mileage, not really caring. We paid a high of 2.32$ a litre for diesel. Its ridiculous but we needed to make time. Only...

What are you working on today?

Aired up the tires on our friends GMC Sierra 1500 with a 2 horse goose. Love how dealers (had tires and brakes recently) have the tires aired so low. 30psi doesn't cut it towing. The tires were still on point foe our 3500 diesel and 6 horse goose. I pumped in a bit of grease as I rotated the...

Those with 150,000 miles or more, check in

My 2006 Chev Trailblazer. Bought used with about 25,000km, now a week shy of 20 years ago. Currently sitting in that 287,000km range. Its always seen some sort of synthetic 5w30. Used to run 10,000km change indexes, then 15ish and sometimes into the 20's. Usually in the high teens it will...

    Brake & auto transmission service.

I do every few years for sure. Every two to three I crack the breeders, give it a gravity bleed, grease the slide pins. Its cheap and simple to do. I owned my Trailblazer for 10 years when I had to change rear rotors and pads. I did it's first brake service (pins needed lube) and the fluid...

    Post Your Latest CAF Change!

2017 Ford Flex, 115,000km, I think. No clue when this filter was done last. I just hit it with compressed air and viola, airflow restored.

What are you working on today?

More odds and ends. I did a basic interior clean/vacuum, check tire pressure ajd clean the cabin air filter on the Ford Flex. Then into town for gas and a car wash. I'll do a hot check on the ATF level and then throw a bottle jack in there. Months ago, we had a flat and it got new tires...

What are you working on today?

Nothing fancy but doing some pretrip maintenance as we have three vehicles and two trailers doing a 1600km round trip to the Royal Red horse show . Checked fluids on the diesel, everything still good from its maintenance earlier this year. I will check the brakes on the 6 horse as well. The...

What are you doing right now?

New toy arrived. This will be used to rip up the indoor and outdoor arenas. After a heavy pack (cattle penning) it's very difficult to break the footing up. This thing will destroy it.

post your latest transmission lubricant change.

2017 Ford Flex 3.5 AWD and about 115,000km. Out was likely FF, it was quite dark, hint of red but not burnt smelling. Did 2 drain and fills using Mototmaster LV synthetic ATF. The level appeared low before starting, it's possible the transmission seal is leaking next to the engine and. Ot...

What are you working on today?

I spent some time doing preventive maintenance on the 2017 Ford Flex 3.5 AWD. This is the work vehicle around here and likely take it for a 1800km trip this summer. Thinking 115,000km. A year or more ago, had it in the dealer for brake service, grease slide pins, service PTU and rear diff...

New Napa Gold Parts Counter Filter Cutaway

Thats cool! I'll keep an eye out at our local Napa. If their new filters are decent, I'll give them a try.

    Stihl FS111

Our 111 has become a favorite. It doesn't run fast like a true 2 stroke but it sure has the torque. It find it quite light in fact.

Restored a freebie Shindaiwa T230X trimmer

Love it!! Great job getting it back up and running! My possibly 1990 built Husky 32R is still kicking. Likely need a carb kit again (rebuilt in 2021 or so) but that's small potatoes in the grand scheme.

At which temp range would you switch from 5w to 0w?

It wasn't until this last couple years that I have made the switch to 0w oils. Why? We have quite a few vehicles, can only plug about two of them in at the house, at a time. Just making things easier for unaided cold starts. What's cold? We see regular -30c and into the 40s. Otherwise...
