    Mazda 3 Oil Filter

I have a 2012 with the 2.5. I've run Wix, Fram Ultra, Mazda OEM, and I think I ran a M1 in late 2018. They all seem to have performed well.

First oil filter you ever bought

I think it was a STP filter from Autozone for my 84 Celica in the early 00s.

    75W-80 Alternatives?

I'm going to get either the Redline 75W-80 or the Motul 75W-80 at this point. I just need to decide which one.

Oldest unopened oil in your stash?

I have a 1qt bottle of Pennzoil Platinum 5W-20 SM that I was keeping around for top-ups that I never needed. I'd probably use it in my 3 in a pinch, but I haven't needed to top it up in the 4 years I've owned it.

    75W-80 Alternatives?

Yeah, I was surprised by that. I have Prime but this seems to be an even better deal.

    75W-80 Alternatives?

Summit racing will ship to me cheaper with taxes and shipping than amazon currently for the Motul.

    75W-80 Alternatives?

This Motul seems to be a good one, and it saves me money even with shipping over Amazon for the Redline.

    75W-80 Alternatives?

Thanks for the help. I'll stick with the recommended 75w-80 GL-4. That being said, aside from Amazon i'm having trouble finding places locally or online that has this type. Amsoil does not offer an oil in this weight.

    75W-80 Alternatives?

I have a 2012 Mazda 3 2.5l with a 6 speed manual that is right around 75k miles. According to the manual it calls for 75w-80 oil, which as I've discovered is not very common. I can get Redline on Amazon for just over $18/qt, Mazda from the dealer for $28/qt or possibly buy Ravenol directly for...

2012 Mazda 3. In: M1 0W-20 AFE. Fram XG3614 Out: M1 0W-20 AFE, Mazda filter. OCI: 1,900 but at 1 year and the car mostly sat for 8 months of it. Dumb story, I thought I had some extra Mazda 3 filters around, turns out they were all for the CX-5. Bought the Fram at WM. A couple days later I was...

Bringing work vehicle out of storage

Yeah. It kind of slipped through the cracks due to some department changes, layoffs, etc. They want me to just watch after it, drive it around a couple times a month if its not being used.

Bringing work vehicle out of storage

Got it working today. Added some gas, replaced the batteries and after a few cranks it started up. Drove it to jiffy lube (per company) changed oil, topped off fluids, filled tires with air. Now at a tire shop waiting on a rotation and inspection. The van had a CEL for the first couple...

Bringing work vehicle out of storage

Well today was pretty much a failure. I went in with 2 different battery jumpers and while the engine turned over it never started. I also learned its almost out of gas, which is a good and bad thing I suppose. Tomorrow someone is bringing a couple gallons of gas and a new battery as I wasn't...

Bringing work vehicle out of storage

Thanks for all of the advice. To answer some questions. The car has been stored in an actively used parking garage 4 levels below street level, so that should hopefully mitigate damage from smoke, humidity, etc. It does worry me about rodent damage. I found the van covered in dust but no...

Bringing work vehicle out of storage

I made a similar post about my personal vehicle being brought out of quasi-storage. This one is a bit different. Today at work I was told to check on a couple of our work vans that have not been touched since Feb 2020. I've only been here for about a year, and until today our dept wasn't...

    Bringing car back from storage

It's good to be back after a year or so of not having too much garage access or use of this site.
