The Critic was spot on; it was the spool valve. Whatever that is...

FYI since she is from the Bay Area have her take a ride to Acura Honda connection in San Jose. Very good pricing and a great group of people if she can’t afford dealership pricing

Honda 1.5T fuel dilution and OCI's

Out of everything you have posted, which 90% of are just short noise complaints and not failures, how many of those were a 1.5T found in the CRV in question

Honda 1.5T fuel dilution and OCI's

It does matter, your engine/vehicle is completely different than theirs. Stop digging for problems that don’t pertain to your vehicle. Follow the engineers recommendation on fluid requirements and you will be fine.

Honda 1.5T fuel dilution and OCI's

I’m not sure what you want to hear. To answer your question again use the factory recommended 0w20 oil and not an out of spec inferior product. Doing so will void your warranty and give you issues down the road.

Honda 1.5T fuel dilution and OCI's

Those threads were started over 4 years ago on vehicles that are approaching 10 years old. They are irrelevant to the 1.5T engine

Honda 1.5T fuel dilution and OCI's

As someone who has worked for NA Honda for years there really isn’t many problems with the 1.5T engine other than injectors running out of spec and turbochargers starting to go bad around the 150k+ mark. After servicing many 1.5T engines I have not witnessed anything related to timing chain...

ATF For a 2003 Honda Civic Automatic Transmission

I just made a thread a few days ago on my 2008 civic. I used Castrol IMV. Works flawless. I believe it's semi synthetic but seems to work great in mine. Had original fluid in it for 100k miles and was about a half a quart low when I did a service on it. I did the drain/fill 3 times and shifts...

Accord 2003 M1 oil with M1 EP filter. Good enough?

Just got my civic and it doesn't burn any oil. If it burns there is a reason. Other than saturns where it says in the manual to expect oil loss between oil changes lol. Could be a shearing problem, to just going pass your oil rings. If I was you I would run a quaker state ultimate durability if...

    2008 Honda Civic 1.8

I have had it up on craigslist 2 different times with each being 30 days. Still no bites at 4.00 a qt. I'm trying to convince the owner at my dealership to let me unload it as a customer special for a couple people but we'll see.

Changed fluid in my Honda transmission

JC1- surprisingly there wasn't much at all. Just a light metallic film was all. I was expecting the worst as well though since it was a teenager owned car. Other than being about half a quart low and never been changed in 100k miles, it was in good shape in my book.

Changed fluid in my Honda transmission

Hey everyone. Long time lurker and finally decided to make an account. Picked up a 2008 Honda civic last week for a DD with 103k for 2350 out the door. Pays to work at a dealership haha. Noticed a delay in the transmission and was hesitant to use anything other than Dw1 fluid. Due to my work...

    2008 Honda Civic 1.8

Yes, it does have VTEC. Thank you for your input. jdavis- that was just half the synthetic. I had at least 24 quarts each of 5w50, 10w40, 10w30, 5w30. I already used all of that up or sold it to friends. Definitely was a good deal

    2008 Honda Civic 1.8

Is it worth it to run it straight or as a diluted 2-5w20/2-0w40? Thank you for the fast response

    2008 Honda Civic 1.8

Good afternoon everyone. I have a question that I would like answered. During the dollar sale at autozone I stocked up on all PU 5w40 and GC 0w40. Have a bunch of it (around 80 qts). My car is spec'd for 5w20 and I realize this. My question is can I run the 0w40 safely? I work at a dealership so...
