    Any BMW LL04 recommendations?

I have no understanding of the way oils are made, so how is Pennzoil able to sell that oil so cheap? And the bmw branded Pennzoil is about $7 (obviously a major markup but still very cheap). That's probably less than they charge for windshield washer fluid. Has me confused

    Any BMW LL04 recommendations?

That's interesting on the Pennzoil. And it's advertised as full synthetic. That's probably the stuff the dealer sells. What about pentosin super performance III? How does that rank? I'm not really concerned about price as I change oil maybe once or twice a year

    Any BMW LL04 recommendations?

I've been using the Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5w30 for my diesel which requires LL04 oil but I've finally run out of my stash. It seems there isn't much to pick from except from the dealer who sells the BMW branded oil. Is there any better? It seems I can't find any LL04 oil the local car parts shops...

What happened to Mobil 1 ESP?

I was using it in a BMW diesel but now I noticed that it is not recommended as an LL - 04 oil. I noticed, I think, the ash content has gotten a little bit higher, but on the bottles it says it is good to use with a DPF found on diesels today. Well what is so different about the BMWs DPF that...

Can FFL4 fluid be used in a manual transmission?

I went to order some Pentosin MTF LT 2, which I am a fan of, for my BMW M3 manual transmission. I also use it in my manual transmission FJ cruiser and I'm very happy with it. The place that used to sell it told me it's been discontinued and that Pentosin FFL4 is what's now used instead of the...

2011 Jetta TDI -Mobil1 ESP - Time to try new oil?

Just to throw my 2 cents in, if you have a diesel particulate filter on your car, that Mobil Turbo Diesel stuff isnt going to be good for that filter and who knows if that would create warranty issues. Im not saying its a bad oil, but its not for cars with a DPF. There are other oils in the...

Quiz: Which of these samples is the better oil?

ok, I thought the additive package could give a better estimate as to which oil will better protect, clean, etc than the other. I guess the ultimate answer is a used sample with about 6k miles on the oil. Its just that I put about 8k miles per year and I didn't feel like waiting close to two...

Quiz: Which of these samples is the better oil?

Below are 2 samples of virgin 10W60. I have the E90 M3 and am looking to use the best oil for protecting my engine. I change the oil at about 6k or 7k miles so TBN might not be too important for me. Which one is best?

HTHS for Total Quartz Racing 10w-60?

I'm trying to compare 10w-60 oils for the e90 BMW M3 to pick the "best" oil for the M3 since BMW no longer preaches the TWS gospel. I can find the HTHS for most of these oils, but not for this Total oil. Anybody know? Thanks for any help

    GL5 in a GL4?

I just looked under the car (removed the underlaying pan) and could not find any sort of sticker which identifies the fluid that goes in. I researched the net to find a BMW document dated 08 or 09 that stated an M with no sticker gets MTF LT 2. I think I might just get that from the dealer and...

    GL5 in a GL4?

Thanks for the reply. I'm not really a redline fan. i used it once and it didnt seem to help. As for the Fuchs gear oil, I chose that because most of what I read online states the trans shifts better. I dont now, maybe I'll just splurge and get the MTF LT 2 from the dealer

    GL5 in a GL4?

I'm a little confused about the subject. My search has turned up conflicting opinions. I have a 2010 manual BMW M3 which comes from the factory with MTF LT 2 which is GL 4. I don't want to spend all the money buying a 5 L jug from the dealer so I went to theFuchs website which calls for their...

    Fuchs, motul or pentosin?

I'll be changing the manual tranny fluid on my 2010 BMW M3 sometime soon. Fluid is a 75w80 oil. BMW recommends MTF LT 2 but I've also heard that's superseded by MTF LT 5. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with one of these oils (OEM, Motul, or Fuchs)? The tranny seems a bit notchy with...
