High mile 4.6 Ford - Ok to use heavier oil?

I have a work van from 09 with the 4.6, over 262,000 miles. The van is rusting away and engine is leaking oil at the head gasket. It is at the point I do not care about engine longevity. So I just top it off with 10w40. Can't tell any different.

AmsOil for my Chevy Cruise Diesel

This engine is specced for DEXOS 2 or DEXOS D. Not sure that Amsoil has any oil labeled for that.

2023 Silverado WT open diff w/trac control? 2.7 8 speed

Looks like the 2.4 going in the Tacoma is not the same as the Highlander. https://www.roadandtrack.com/news/a45954715/2024-toyota-tacoma-engine-explained/

    Synthetic Mercon V ?

I have looked it up in the past. There is no one that makes a synthetic Mercon V. Depending on the transmission, it may be ok to use a multi vehicle synthetic ATF. I am not going to recommend to use Mercon LV or newer.

    Synthetic Mercon V ?

As long as Mercon V is not obsolete, they will say that. Why did Ford make the original Mercon compatible to Mercon V when it was obsolete?

Swap engine/engine rebuild vs. just fix the oil leak

I tired of leaving evidence of where I was parked and don’t feel that looks professional either.

Swap engine/engine rebuild vs. just fix the oil leak

No, it is a work vehicle and the boss will pay someone to do it. It is rusting at the bottom and considering getting a body shop to fix it. Like I said, if a new one or another was easily available, I wouldn’t be here asking this question. But that isn’t the case. So I at the point where I have...

Swap engine/engine rebuild vs. just fix the oil leak

The bottom line is I don’t want to do the head gasket now and then have to do a engine rebuild later on.

Swap engine/engine rebuild vs. just fix the oil leak

Do a full engine rebuild/swap or just repair the leak is the question. The repair requires taking a whole engine head off.

Swap engine/engine rebuild vs. just fix the oil leak

If this was 5 years ago, this would be an easy answer. Replace the vehicle. But unfortunately, things really changed in the vehicle market since then. The vehicle is a 2009 Ford E-150 Cargo Van 4.6 v8 with 246,000 miles on it. A few years ago, an oil leak developed and got it checked out...

2023 Ford Ranger or Toyota Tacoma

I done that over a week ago. Drove a 2022 Ford Ranger Lariat crew cab. Drove used both since there was no new ones to drive. I got long legs so the seat was maxed out and that was just so fit, but could of went further. Then I drove a 2021 Toyota Tacoma SR5. The Tacoma had more room and didn't...

Recommend a complete overkill oil + filter combo for a Toyota.

Your vehicle is already is a 10,000 mi./1 year OCI from the factory, not 5,000 miles. So any extended protection oils will more than enough fulfill your requirement.
