Young drivers, possibly idiots, and snow

Things like this are why I purchased a dash cam. Cheap insurance for if (when?) I get in an accident. On a side note I want to say not ALL civic drivers are terrible. I've had mine (yes it's tuned up, no I don't drive like an idiot) for 6 years now and its a great little car. I put some money...

Things you carry with you every day?

The three items that I always have on my person are: Cell phone, Spyderco Paramilitary 2, and my wallet of course. Optional/in my backpack: Laptop, phone/laptop charger, emergency cash, notepad, pens, pencils, small first aid kit, bottle of water, clif bar and/or some snacks, leatherman...

    VitaMix Blenders

I have a vitamix and its a great blender. It's used every day in our house and has stood up to some pretty gnarly blending jobs so far. That being said it is a luxury item. If you don't use a blender every day or would just prefer to save some money I think a cheaper blender would be perfectly...

Do you ever buy tools "just because"?

Not really, everything I buy gets used at least once. My fiancee is pretty angry about the 12 ton shop press that "appeared" in the garage though...

    DIY Bedliners??? long term reviews?

IMO if you are going to keep the truck for a decade plus then just pay to have it done professionally. I have Line-X in my Toyota and it has held up wonderfully for the 4 years its been on the truck. Nice, even coat and no bubbling or gouging. My truck is NOT a work truck though. I haul junk in...

Is $120 fair for an alignment + balance?

That sounds about right to me, at least in my location. I usually pay $80 for a 4-wheel alignment where I provide the specs and then $25 for a balance. Not sure what a "shop fee" is though?

    Spring car projects anyone?

My youngest sister's TC needs the water pump and drive belt replaced so that is going to be done this weekend. Have all the parts, RTV, and a gallon of coolant ready to go. Also going to put in a new set of headlights I put together for her as a late b-day present. Nissan Murano bi-xenon...

    Windshield Wipers

I've always used BOSCH Icon blades on my vehicles and they usually last about 2 years. Being in Southern California we don't get much rain so they don't see very much use.

    Quick Change Shop ruins engine

Same thing happened to a friend's es330 a couple years back. We were heading out for a jiu jitsu tournament that was about a 2 hour drive away so he decides to get his oil changed before we leave. Halfway there, BOOM, oil and all sorts of engine parts are spewing out from under the car. Turns...

Theoretical "best" annual miles for engine life?

My uncle commutes from San Diego to Los Angeles 5-6 days a week. His last two Tacomas have gone 600,000+ before either being totaled or traded in. Original motor and transmission on both. So with 90% highway miles and good service schedule I think you would G2G for close to a million miles.

Odd place to have damage. I would say its OK but not preferable.

    Ninja 250r owners chime in!

I've ridden a few 250 ninjas and I really like them. Plenty fast for street riding, light (easy to flick around in the twisties), and get great mileage. The new ones look very sporty to boot.
