    M1 0W-30 vs. 0W-20/40 Mix (S2000)

    M1 0W-30 vs. 0W-20/40 Mix (S2000)

Is there any benefit to using Mobil 1 0W-30 versus a mixture of 0W-20 and 0W-40 in a Honda S2000? I am thinking about switching from the 0W-30 to a 60%/40% (3/2 qt) mix of 0W-40/0W-20, respectively. M1 0W-20 and 0W-40 are used in other vehicles within the household, see list below, so I can...

    Mixing M1 Gear Lubricants

How does the BITOG collective feel about mixing 75W-90 & 75W-140 Mobil 1 gear lubricant to create something near 75W-110? I suggested this on another forum as a local auto parts store alternative to boutique oils meeting the vehicle's ~19-20cst OE oil/specification. The comment received the...

    Recommend Me an Oil (J35Z2)

Sooo, I decided to go with M1 AFE due to availability (other 0W-20s are less common), cost, brand performance, etc... I wouldn't assert M1 AFE is better than the others, but it seems worth a try, especially with the current AutoZone & O'Reilly's sales.

    Recommend Me an Oil (J35Z2)

So the consensus is any of listed oils (AFE (2), PP/QSUD (1), Edge (2) or SynPower) should meet the engine and use requirements. This begs a follow-up question: is there a benefit to using a single oil brand over switching/rotating oil brands?

    Recommend Me an Oil (J35Z2)

I'm looking for a little help choosing an oil for a new to me Honda Accord. 1. What kind of vehicle you have 2008 Honda Accord V6 (J35Z2, VCM; 48k miles) 2. What your owner's manual says -- not just viscosity, but certifications (look for acronyms like API SM, ILSAC GF-4, etc.) and change...

To change, or not to change...

Expecting warm weather which hasn't materialized, I pulled my S2000 out of storage. Reintroducing the S to the world, I planned to warm-up the engine with a short drive followed by an oil change. Although, after the drive I looked through my records and questioned the necessity of an oil change...
