    Kroil failed for me

I don't usually have a problem with the Odyssey EGR valve nuts, but often find the port in the intake clogged on these vehicles. Causes low flow. Can require plenum removal. The later ones had a removable upper plate that has access to individual cylinder ports. Still need to check the passage...

    Stuck crank pulley bolt

They turn CCW. Do not use starter trick. They can be very difficult to break loose. I have had to hang off of them with a 3-4 foot pipe on a 3 foot breaker bar. I estimate somewhere north of 1100 lb/ft of removal torque for many of them. You might need a 3/4" drive set to get enough torque to...

    Brake drum cleaning interval.

Darwin, every 40,000 not too excessive. Maintaining the rear will help the front brakes last longer as well. When they are clean, the self adjusters work better, and some reduced wear from extra brake dust as well. You should replace the nut every time it comes off. Just use a torque wrench on...

Alignment guys, I need your help please

The 12:00 and 6:00 play does sound like the wheel bearing. Make sure your upper control arm bushings are not the culprit. When you put on the next bearing assembly, make sure it is torqued correctly. That seems like a great deal of wheel bearing problems, even for inexpensive bearings. I'm glad...

Alignment guys, I need your help please

If the right wheel is moving by hand when jacked up, that condition needs to be rectified before alignment. There is unwanted toe change, and while you may be able to center the steering wheel, it will still not be quite correct, actually requiring more toe (probably) in on the right to achieve...

    the dreaded RUST!

Do you use the hose at your home to wash the undercarriage? I ask because many car washes have to recycle the water that is drained off, and it may cause salt to be spread further under your vehicle. Not all car washes do this, but many do. Just a thought.

Wheel Bearing, very common. Or choppy tires. If rear tires are smooth, wheel bearing.

EPA Proposal on R-134a: The End Is Near

I just heard recently M-B said no to 1234yf, and will continue CO2 AC. Other European manufacturers have followed suit. Apparently in violation of European laws. Big problems in use with 1234yf. Also, Dupont and Honeywell cited in EU antitrust suit due to 1234yf...

Tell me about the 351W FI of the 90s

I just went through an axle swap on a Quigley converted E350, also self contained RV. She went through three axles on her trip, and the last shop welded in the right wheel bearing. Upgraded to The full floater Dana 70 from semi-floater Dana 70. People tend to associate E series and F series...

    THREE Permatex brake lubricants

I use the CRC synthetic brake lube on the backing plates and pad abutment ends of the pads. Syl-glide or dielectric grease ONLY on the guide pins/bolts due to rubber damage. Regular grease will seize the pins. I have also found anti-seize will turn very hard and dry and cause pins to stick.

96 Toyota Corolla plug missing under valve cover?

If it had silicone residue, and discoloration on one side it was the old plug. He just forgot to remove old one from under the hood. If it was left out you should have a large amount of oil leaked from the engine by now. Should be ok. I usually just reseal the old aluminum half-moons by...

    u-joint temp?

For the difficult to reach u-joints, many are now available with one of the caps drilled and an almost flush grease fitting installed in it. They require a needle to grease, but work well in tight applications.

Moly and wheel bearings. Yes I've searched

If i remember correctly, I used Moly CV grease in the birfield joints. The trunnion bearings(kingpin) should be ok with this same grease. Very slow motion, just steering pivots like ball joints. The wheel bearings use regular wheel bearing grease. Make sure you knuckle ball seals are good. The...

    Nissan Versa "Needs H-Rated Tires"?

I know OP solved his dilemma. Some additional info, the tire ratings for the vehicle should be on the tire placard, usually by the drivers door. That being said, you could run lower speed rating. Generally without any issues. Not recommended, and some places will have a waiver for you. Some of...
