    Exhaust tip shim

Want to exchange the dealer supplied (stubby) chrome exhaust tip on the wifey's Colorado, for a longer SS polished tip. The tailpipe measures 2.8125", and I have a tip that is made for a 3" inlet. Given the creative, more experienced and thoughtful minds of this crew, I'm wondering what ideas...

    Starting after 22+ months.

Snowblower hadn't been run since probably Feb. of 2016. Had been lazy and didn't even touch it last winter. Finally had enough snow to make it worthwhile, but had a tough time starting. Used my usual first start routine - turn fuel petcock on, turn choke on, push primer bulb 5 times, then give...

    Cleaning exhaust tips

A first for me Before Cleaned Polished If you look closely at the last one, the arc you see, and the line - are reflections of the joint between the garage floor and the driveway, and the control cut down the middle of both.

    Frontier no start

Had an interesting Sat. morning this weekend. The wife's 2007 Frontier started fine at home, then would not so much as turn over after her first stop. The battery is 5 years old, so I suspected that. Tried to jump it from my car, but no go. Had all the dash lights and headlights. Walked a block...

    Deck seal

Stained our deck last week. Definitely darker than anything we've used before. Almost a mahogany look, a little satiny finish - haven't decided how much I like that. All in all, doesn't look too bad for a 22 year old deck.

    A first time for me.

I am paying $600+ to take off OE tires on my new Maxima. The OE tires are Continental ProContact TX, 245/45R18. They seem more noisy than they probably are - given how quiet the rest of the car is. I have a great tire dealer who really worked with me to make a decision, and I'm going with...

    Tire folks?

I have a '10 Maxima with aftermarket wheels with the OE TPMS sensors installed. When I changed out the wheels last week, I noticed one tire extremely low - and upon checking it was at 4 1/2 psi. We have a cold snap this week, and sure enough, that same tire had dropped from 37 psi to 29. I am...

Darkest oil out of the bottle?

Might sound like a strange question, but my Ariens snowblower has a yellow plastic dipstick, and new oil is really tough to see on it. Will be draining/filling in the next month or so - and would like to put something in that will be easier to see. Current fill is ST syn. Would prefer another...

    New zinc coated rotors

I have received new zinc coated rotors that are supposed to be less prone to rusting. A few years ago, while changing over to my winter tires/wheels, a couple of the wheels were stuck good to the raw iron rotors and required an uncomfortable number of smacks with a rubber mallet to free them...

    0W-20 in 2013 Altima

I was curious and looked up the 2013 Altima owner's manual and noticed that the 4 cyl. (QR25DE) is spec'd for 0W-20, which is the first I've noticed in a Nissan product. It's worth noting that the VQ35 is still calling for 5W-30. I've seen just in the last year or so Nissan OM's stating that 20W...

Car care advise from a finance geek website.

This from a thread inquiring as to whether people were actually following the "Preventative Maintenance" schedule. "Changing your oil every 3000 miles is a waste. Of your money, and the environment. Buy a GM car - it will tell you when the oil needs to be changed. Usually, that is 5,000 - 7,000...

    Bad battery?

I've heard of this happening, but never experienced it. My son, who lives in another state - called to tell me that his car wouldn't start - and despite following directions, couldn't even get it jumped. What happens in a battery to fail so catastrophically that it can't be jumped - and how...

    New bike coming!

Just ordered - very similar to the video below. Full Ultegra w/FSA cockpit, Edge 2.0 fork. Mine will come with cheaper wheels as I will use some nice hand built wheels I got earlier this summer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MyvycdQ2EQo Will be selling my Litespeed when the new one arrives.

    Anyone ordered a bike online?

A friend of mine just ordered a bike online, this one if you're interested: http://www.performancebike.com/bikes/Product_10052_10551_1072807_-1_45500_20000_45501 He will probably ask for my help in assembly. How involved is this going to be? I would guess the toughest issue will be getting the...

    Briggs engine w/balky carb

I have a 13 year old Toro w/Briggs engine that has been acting at start-up as if it has some crud in the fuel line or carb. I have plenty of Techron around since I always buy it on sale, and wondered if a teaspoon or so of Techron in the tank might smooth things out for me?

    Question for Canadian BITOGer's

A local independant tire guy told me a story the other day. I was curious if some of you Canucks or Capri Racer could confirm/deny for me. His contention was that availability/price of winter tires was affected last winter by either a new law or more stringent enforcement of existing laws(in...

    A little help?

Hey guys. Never paid much attention to this topic till recently, so a real newb here. At Xerex's(Valvoline's)website, their "Choose the right chemistry for your car" pdf lists Dexcool orange for my '05 Nissan. The owner's manual specifically says this: When adding or replacing coolant, be sure...
