Motul 300v 5w40 vs Redline 40WT racing in BMW racecar

Cameron Evans (formerly with Redline) has always suggested 40Wt racing for these 5X flavor motors. You can probably use either but the rule of thumb is 10psi/thousand revs and 40wt hot gives you that PSI and 30wt is a little bit lower at the top end. So maybe we could get away with it but we...

Motul 300v 5w40 vs Redline 40WT racing in BMW racecar

I posted this to racing oils but so far no response posting here to see if I can reach a bigger audience for thoughts. I have two BMW racecars e36 M3 and e46 330i. The easy button is Redline 40wt racing oil and it is what I have always used. I am tempted to switch because FCP EURO sells Motul...

    300v 5w40 vs Redline racing 15w40

I have two BMW racecars e36 M3 and e46 330i. The easy button is Redline 40wt racing oil and it is what I have always used. Mobil 0w40 good enough for a race car

Temps are below 115C, 239F, even in traffic. Pressure is a pretty consistent give or take 10psi/1000rpm when on track where the revs are between 4k and 7k.

Mobil 0w40 good enough for a race car

In my class the engine is stock except for a cold air intake, removal of emissions devices (like the startup air pump), and a no cat 3" exhaust. The car will rev to 7000 but I have a 7 quart oil pan and an oil cooler that keeps temps well in line, normally 215-225F unless I am in traffic in...

Mobil 0w40 good enough for a race car

Most of the races are half an hour sprints with an occasional 1 hour "enduro" We run Redline 40W racing in the enduro cars that do 12 hour runs and we change the oil nightly. I change my oil every ten hours. The exhaust is open, no cats.

Mobil 0w40 good enough for a race car

I have a BMW e36 M3 race car. Would the members of this forum feel comfortable running Mobil 1 0w40 European formula in a racecar? The alternative is Redline racing 40w which I believe is a 15w40.
