Honda CR-V engine feels very hot after driving

Pretty much any fluid can have a dye added to it to help find a leak. Plugged cat is worth investigating... backpressure test, visual inspection.... Its a decade old.... how many miles? maintenance history?

Honda CR-V engine feels very hot after driving

He doesn't need a forum since he has a technician dealer or indie to take care of everything. Smells smoky is... burning fluid, oil/antifreeze/brakefluid/psf/transmission fluid.... or your location... rusty brakes that are dragging I would take anything the shop says with a grain of salt. I...

    OEMassive oil filters?

Well, stick with your 4 oil changes. The filter chosen shouldn't be an issue, until the filter fails. Would you like to be the 1st to test that brand's unknown sourced/boxed filters? Up the grade of oil and quality of oil while you're at it too, and use toptier fuel.

HPL Engine Cleaner 30.....800 miles in

The areas we can't see.... but marketing and forum hype are too funny. As such, I haven't seen any picture proof of dirty and then clean ring packs with ANY products. All can be recommended so no point in shilling one brand over another. I see no need for HPL/Redline/Amsoil oil when...

EV driver with bald front tires

Shhhh... you'll ruin the smugness factor of the EV. So, we all need to be quiet and not tell anyone about the tire wear, as EV tires pile up.

    OCI for E-85

What year make model engine oil grade is recommended? what brand/grade oil/filter are you using? E85 warning concerning oil has already been provided. More specific data would be interesting for some of the members here.

Super Tech 20W50 VS Diesel rated 15W40

Any current VOA of ST 20w50? I would just RETURN IT. I'd take a spec'd diesel oil over any unknown entity. I'd take a blend over a conventional, and a synthetic over a blend. So, that would be two votes for the blended 15w40 over the 20w50 conventional. Since Kohler recommend 10w50 and a...

EV driver with bald front tires

Small tire size when compared to weight.... that's how you get more MPG.... range I don't see it as a torque issue. The vehicle is beyond the limit of 205-215 width tires and the short diameter. If you think that is bad, there is a manufacturer that uses laughable 215mm tire width with FWD...

    OEMassive oil filters?

Well, average oil change frequency in the US is about 2 a year, and not 4. So, hyping up cost savings with 4 oil changes means nothing to many of us. Some of us don't care to support the enemy. As such, my primary filter choices are made in the USA or Europe. I still have the freedom to pick...

2022 Toyota Tacoma factory filter CUT OPEN

Media is self supported and doesn't need excessively stout endcap support. Media did not fail in use as I don't see any tears. Other than that, no other conclusion but it simply worked and didn't fail.. How well it worked is an unknown. Some 'very old' data, particle counts, boutique oil...

United and Eve Air announce electric air taxi service for San Francisco area expected to start in 2026

Yes sir. About time. I just can't wait until I fly in one.

    Thick oils and VVT systems

Don't forget your ATF, PSF, antifreeze/coolant, diff/xfer gear oils, BF.... too Data says that many of the above are either lifetime or decade intervals..... just wait for the failure and pay up! I don't see it as frustrating. I pity those without mechanical common sense.

    Thick oils and VVT systems

Automakers are playing their data. They have pushed the extreme limit of the oil for 50 years. If the oil gets better, they push beyond its capability even more. Did it last the warranty period? Was there a class action lawsuit? It gets laughable when they master the art of disposable products...

Well, if you need google translate, then you can't be helped. Brand is irrelevant. HTHS and additives are your friends.

    3.6L Pentastar Camshaft Wear

Next time around, don't use a 5w20 and brand or its marketing means nothing. The grade debate battle has been going on for 20 years. It truly is laughable. Did you learn yet? Of course not! If you don't learn or adapt, with ALL your vehicles, then this will just continue. LocTite those galley...

    Thick oils and VVT systems

Some VVT systems trigger a code for overly thick oil. And no, I won't mention the brands of the offensive domestic automakers. I know of a couple domestics that has a code for it, even though different similar engines in higher performance models use thicker oil. One of the domestic brands...

    3.6L Pentastar Camshaft Wear

Use a better oil. Find one that protects the engine and sacrifices the o2/afr or catalytic instead. There is a reason I run oils higher in: hths/ash/visc/z/p/s/ca/mo/b..... and with a more sensible oil change interval. So, replace the parts and adapt to the failure. If cost of replacement...
