    EVs on Long Road Trips

Is it even 35 minutes more for the EV when you include the pre and post trip fill up the ice car ? The EV allows for every outbound trip to be full and for the car to arrive home essentially "empty" yet be ready for the weeks commute without another dedicated stop.

Female Neighbor Takes 2018 Corolla to the Stealership for 100k Service

I always feel bad when I see this stuff because some poor customer that doesn't know better is getting soaked. We were "old school" at 19. Back when I was a young man writing service we strictly went by the manual. We showed plenty of women what the manual said they did and what it didnt...

Has technology failed you today? List the ways and how often it happens to you.

Im in the TV/ Film/ Cinema equipment manufacturing business. Technology fails me everyday which is why we endeavor to build equipment that doesn't. The latest failure is a 40K X-ray parts counting machine that doesn't work like the brochure/ sales pitch that sold it. It partially works, but...

    New tool thread

A dial would be really great, but it's pretty basic. It's three settings and pretty linear like 900, 1700 and 3000 lumens. No option for color temp changes. Feels like a step up from my husky with its lo/hi and fire hazard temps.

    New tool thread

Another angle of the product lighting the work at night in an otherwise pitch black room. Subjectively Id say it was a bit brighter that it appears on cam. completely refinished all the cabinets doors. Had to not only sand and paint, because the guy didnt clean for half a decade, but fill...

    New tool thread

Super happy with this gem - Makita DML 814 stand light. In the middle of another reno, the light fixtures are being replaced so the place is dark. Compared to my huskys it's not as bright and very expensive. But when you need the go anywhere without power portability, and flexibility of...

May need to buy my first Icon tool

Cant speak to the kit specifically but my few Icon purchases have been satisfying, and the products held up. I'll never confuse it for Nepros when I reach in the case - but the tools have been perfectly serviceable so far.

    2026 Rivian R2 First Review

Has anyone done a 100 degree DCFC yet? Super curious how it handles the cabin AC while fast charging in hot weather.

Engineering Explained not happy with new Lucid Air

I get the criticism I don't think the description is on point though. This is more "whipped" behavior.

Engineering Explained not happy with new Lucid Air

Lucids shortcomings are pretty well known, his journey was redundant, but true to his own form well document . There were no surprises in his journey of discovery.

Wash Machine Bearing Took a Dump

Sounds like a decent run and probably was. I vastly prefer cycles as a metric of lifespan over years. 20 years could be a great run or it could be an early end of life, without a cycle count its hard to tell.

Put Bilstein 5100 on my 2019 Tacoma

I get this position and as a Bilstein guy I really want to agree. Thing is my suspension guy, and most other suspension guys tell me the Fox 2.0's are superior. Yes, at some point they will need to be rebuilt, but the fact they are designed to be rebuilt and apparently built with great...

Put Bilstein 5100 on my 2019 Tacoma

mmmmmm. The Fox 2.0's are pretty nice. (I run 5100's)

Put Bilstein 5100 on my 2019 Tacoma

Think of 4600s as a better stock shock, and nearly identical riding, but a tick better, and longer lasting - it's a perfect step up for an OEM replacement. If you run lightly loaded most of the time you may thing the 5100 is a bit harsh. The 5100's a bit stiffer but still compliant and SUPERB...

Teslas are becoming the new Camrys.

Thats basically 3/5th of my twice monthly route Tracey to LA. I do it 7-8 times a year and 2-3 times a year in electrics for the last decade.

Teslas are becoming the new Camrys.

29K on the website or 29K on the window sticker at the dealer? Toyotas are almost have ADM on them. This might not completely close the gap - but it's tighter than what the window stickers suggest.

What Does Honda VCM Engagement and Running "Feel Like"?

What Does Honda VCM Engagement and Running "Feel Like"?

Sounds like a completely different map, mine wont engage anywhere near that speed. Ridgeline isnt awful aero for a truck but it's better than many trucks. It's a lot like a pilot in that year in the front. You can feel the motor mount transition in every VCM 3 vehicle I've driven. I drive...

    Honda V6 VCM, again.

I was just going to clear it out when it arrived - no doubt at the end of this OCI It'll pop. Since the 2017 MM doesn't actually track time, but only miles, this part of it is off the factory spec by a year and half already, but a few K under the miles. The MM also doesn't take into...
