Shorter OCI as engine gets older?

I'm struggling with the same issue on my 02 Suzuki Aerio SX. Last oil change at 162,000, the oil was looking pretty nasty. I've been diligent about changing it at 7.5K per the manual. Always used name brand oil. Bought the car brand new so I now it's owner pretty well. Up till this oil change...

Effects of low RPM driving on OCIs?

I wouldn't worry about it, my 1916 Ford model t will never see anything over 1800 rpms plus it doesn't have a filter. It needed it first engine rebuild in 1966. Your modern water cooled oil filtered engine should be fine at low rpms.

    Considering a slightly longer OCI

OCI must be the most confusing part of owning a car that I know of. For me it's pretty simple, open the vehicles owner manual and look under the scheduled maintenance. 99.9% of owners would use the regular not severe schedule. Done. I own two Japanese vehicles and both state 7500 miles oil...

Why even use conventional oil anymore?

I'm with the poster who buys any brand oil on sale. My truck has yet to ask me which brand I'm using. Not on the synth band wagon either, all my vehicles run great with good old dino. Who started the rumor that oils are only good for 5K miles? Neither of my three vehicles recommend those oil...

02 Suzuki Aerio synthetic oil recommendations?

Why waste the money for synthetic oil? Today's dino oil is excellent. I've been a lurker of BITOG for a couple of years and have wondered when the memo came out that today's dino oil is only good for 5K miles. All my cars are fairly new and they say 7500 miles for OCI. I have a 02 Aerio SX...

Suzuki Aerio 2.0L - High Mileage Oil Consumption

Need some advice and how to tame oil consumption in my 2002 Suzuki Aerio 2.0L with 153K on it. Bought it new and I've maintained it per the manual (oil, filter, brakes etc). I gave it to my daughter when we bought my wife a new car. With that it's using oil probably about a quart every 1500...

2007 LBZ Duramax burning 5/40 Mobil Syn

My 07 LBZ has 89K on it and I've only run 15w-40 (dino) in it since new. Below 65K it burned a quart or more every 7500 miles (my OCI) but now has settled in. My last change saw no oil consumption at all. I drive it work on occasion (30 mile round trip) and also use it to pull a 7K toyhauler...
