So, except for the can color, are there any differences in the filters? They sure look the same to me. Even the appearance of the filter media looks the same. I smell a marketing ploy..... (or I stepped in something).

My guess is: 2 micron avg dia is caught 19% of the time 1st pass 20 micron avg dia is caught 41% of the time 1st pass etc. efficiency rating perhaps? Pretty much worthless unless a confidence level is specified.

To be honest, pay someone to change your oil/filter. For $20.00 at Wally World they can do if for you. I am not discounting your abilities or your determination to work on your own car. But changing your oil can be a mess regardless. Plus you need to dispose of your used oil (and oil filter)...

I used K&N filters on my BMW motorcycle. On the newer engines the filter is completely recessed into the engine block. The 'factory approved' tool is like an oversize socket that slips over the filter's facets. Works okay if the facets are perfect. Now I just use a nice 17mm socket and zip it...
