Some cut-open, virgin oil filter photos, if you're interested...

So, except for the can color, are there any differences in the filters? They sure look the same to me. Even the appearance of the filter media looks the same. I smell a marketing ploy..... (or I stepped in something).

Newbie getting started with changing oil

To be honest, pay someone to change your oil/filter. For $20.00 at Wally World they can do if for you. I am not discounting your abilities or your determination to work on your own car. But changing your oil can be a mess regardless. Plus you need to dispose of your used oil (and oil filter)...

    K&N makes my life easier.

I used K&N filters on my BMW motorcycle. On the newer engines the filter is completely recessed into the engine block. The 'factory approved' tool is like an oversize socket that slips over the filter's facets. Works okay if the facets are perfect. Now I just use a nice 17mm socket and zip it...

The rebate coupon is found on a Pennzoil display at Pep Boys. I have visited my local PB and could not find it (the oil not the display).

    Thank you Pennzoil!

Pennzoil has a coupon out that will rebate to you a $15.00US mastercard (cash card?) if you buy 6 qts of the Platinum. Pep Boys in my area advertised the oil at $3.99US per quart. The catch is.....none of the Pep Boys had it in stock. $24-15. = $9/6 = $1.50 per quart. The coupon is not...
