Noticed PUP has gone up nearly $3 a jug.

Can you explain what you mean when you say Pennzoil Yellow Bottle lubricates better than Pennzoil Ultra Platinum?

Noticed PUP has gone up nearly $3 a jug.

At my local Walmart I've noticed PUP 5 gallon jugs have gone up from $25.17 to $27.97 in the last few days. The "regular" PP has stayed the same @ $25.17. All Synthetics from any brand or grade were $25.17 until this happened. Anyone know why PUP is the only one to buck this trend?

When do you figure this should be drained?

Sounds like the oil has been babied to me. 7500 shouldn't be an issue. Remember you're talking about one of the most robust oils out there. It would be a waste to cut out 2500 miles of its life.

Head's spinning from what oil for 1970 chevy LT-1

The guys recommending the 10w-30 Valvoline VR1 are right. It has the right amount of ZDDP that your flat tappet cam was designed for. ...And the grade is right.

Head's spinning from what oil for 1970 chevy LT-1

My old man had one of those LT-1 crate engines. He put it in a '68 Camaro with a close ratio 4-speed and 4.10 12 bolt. That was 1977. I was a kid of 5 or 6. That car took my breath away. I refused to ride in it with him.

Opinion, is fuel dilution an overblown subject?

When I change the QSUD in my Hyundai Accent with DI, the oil looks nice and as thick as a 5w-20 oil can be. Its not thin at all. Dilution, what dilution? I take no special precautions with it either. I use it as transportation, idling, WOT gutting, putt putting, whatever, and never give the oil...

Head's spinning from what oil for 1970 chevy LT-1

Joe Mondello, a well respected man in pushrod circles recommended a product called "Cam Shield." You can add it to whatever modern oil you choose in order to pump up the ZDDP to levels that your LT-1 was intended to run on. Mondello said he was having issues with flat tappet cams in the new...

Yes, tons of info already, but... I still ask this

I know that on the Mustangs with the 4.6L modular engines, the early ones, Ford recommended 5w-30. And then in about 2001 it was changed and 5w-20 was the new recommendation. I don't know if there was a difference in the engines, but they looked the same and were rated at the same horsepower...

As always MolaKule, thank you for your valuable input.

Opinion, is fuel dilution an overblown subject?

    What is NOACK?

So what kind of Noacks are we seeing with the new Pennzoil GTL oils? Are they superior to what we have seen in the past?

    DI engines: ethanol fuel better?

In my neck of the woods premium is 20 cents a gallon more than regular, unless you go to one of the gouging stations which can be 50 cents a gallon more, or worse. @ 20 cents a gallon more it only takes a slight improvement (1 or 2 MPG) to make the difference and save money. We're talking $3.79...

    What is NOACK?

Its sinking in guys... So if one oil has a Noack of 5 and another a Noack of 12, what does that mean? Are those percentages? Percentages of what? Which one would be better, 5 or 12?

    What is NOACK?

The glossary won't work for me. Can someone explain to me what NOACK is? What does it mean? What do I need to look for in an oil? I'm a layman. Go easy.

    DI engines: ethanol fuel better?

I got one of the first '12 Accents in the country. Bought it June 2011. I'm part of the MPG reimbursement, but I haven't cashed it in yet. I'm up around $500 right now. Do yourself a favor and do the math. If you can only improve your mileage 1-2 MPG, then you'll save money running premium. I'm...

Opinion, is fuel dilution an overblown subject?

I've read more than once that the Germans and the Russians actually poured a little gasoline into the crankcase in order to help their engines cold start during the Russian winters on the Eastern Front during the Second World War. So, a little bit of gasoline in the oil from fuel dilution...

    DI engines: ethanol fuel better?

WOW! Really valuable info there. I didn't realize the spray angle was such that it could spray onto the back of the valve that way. Thanks for the link. What fuel are you running in your 2012 Accent? What is the max fuel economy you've seen? I have the 2012 Accent as well. On the premium fuel...

    DI engines: ethanol fuel better?

I think my Accent GDI is a victim of over-enthusiastic engineering. The car has 11:1 compression and a maximum RPM of 6250 during WOT acceleration. Therefore the cylinder pressures must be rather high especially when you consider the rather high power density of this engine; 138hp and 1.6L...

    DI engines: ethanol fuel better?

I give my GDI Accent regular Italian tune-ups. They don't seem to "blow out" or "clean out" anything. The [censored] thing continued to ping no matter what. I religiously ran only top tier gas since it was new. I used 87 octane only as well, since the owner's manual states that is OK. Finally...

Where to find Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 0W-40?

I'm just trying to keep this old 5.0 sputtering along. I was mesmerized by the notion that I could get oil for 1994 prices ($1.25 per quart) and thought the 0w-40 sounded best. Since its the best available choice, I've already stocked up with 3 extra jugs of the PUP 5w-30 (one is in the sump) so...
