    Trop Artic in Dodge Dakota

Made the switch in my daughter's 1995 Dodge Dakota with the V8. I will now be running Trop Artic 5w30 for 5,000 mile intervals. I think this oil is up to the challenge. What say you?

    Chainsaw 2 Stroke engine oil

This feels like a dopey question. I wouldn't be asking for my car, so I don't know if I need to bother for my chainsaw, but here goes: I needed some 2 stroke engine oil for my chainsaw the other day. I went to wally-world and saw a brand for a Poulin (sp?) weed-eater. It was the correct 40:1...

    Road Trip!

Some of you know that I am really rough on my oil in my 2000 LS1 Camaro. Many short trips. I live only about 3.5 miles from work. But tomorrow, the wife and I are sneaking a little vacation. We'll be taking the Camaro from Fort Worth, Texas to Sreveport, Louisianna. I love this trip. I can do 80...

    GCastrol 0w30 - 5,630 miles - 2000 Camaro LS1

I just received my first UOA results from Blackstone Labs today. German Castrol 0w30 with 5,630 miles and 13.5 months on the oil. There are 59,680 miles on the car. This on my 2000 Camaro LS1. I had planned to go 6,000 miles, but could wait no longer. This oil was punished quite a bit. I work...

UOA - sample off the Blackstone

I just sent in my very first sample for UOA today. German Castrol 0w30 with 5,630 miles and 13.5 months on the oil. There are 59,680 miles on the car. This on my 2000 Camaro LS1. I had planned to go 6,000 miles, but could wait no longer. This oil should have been punished quite a bit. I work...

    Severe Duty - Patman

Pardon my pulling this from another thread. I put Patman's name in the subject as this is his quote, however I invite any and all opinions. I have a 2000 LS1 Camaro. It has a Z06 intake, headers and a more aggressive cam. I consider it under severe duty as I drive it to and from work all of 3-4...

    5w20 Shear

Most of what I've read indicates group II and III base oils are used in 5w20 base oils. But what are the chances of these oils shearing down to less than 20 weight? We have all heard of 40 weights shearing down to 30 and 30 weights shearing down to 20. Is there any reason for concern?

    FL331 on a Chevy

Somewhat of a follow-up to a recent question: Is there any reason not to use the Motorcraft FL-331 on a Chevy Camaro LS1 V8? I like the quality and price of the Motorcraft and would consider this change.

    Motorcraft on a Chevy

I'm just not finding what I want doing a search, so please forgive. I'm looking for a larger filter for my 2004 Chevy Silverado with 5.3L engine. Specifically, I have some FL-400S filters left over from another vehicle. They seem to be the same diameter as the other "recommended" filters and I...

Oil for Low Reving, High Torque Engine

I have a 1975 International Scout. The 392 V8 engine is low reving, but high torque. Probably 200hp and 300 ft lbs all at less than 4500 rpm. I'm thinking Rotella would be a good oil, but look forward to anyone else's input. I did the search first and only found two threads with the Scout. So...

    Cut 'em Open

Okay, okay. I have gone nuts like some of you. I now have a desire to cut open filters. So what are the best tool recomendations for someone who wants a quick and easy way for less than say 50.00?

    Bait and Switch

From all the hoarding (I mean long term aquisition) it would appear some do not trust the reformulation of GC. Some who defend the reformulation are buying a lot of the M02 thru M04 batches. Just an observation at this point.

    In Honor of the Elves!

I apologize in advance if anyone has already thought of this before. I would like to suggest a special honoring of the Elves. I have already contacted all my friends, sent out hundreds of thousands of spam e-mails and wrote letters to my local newspapers. In honor of our friends and suppliers of...

How Many Quarts of GC have you?

It's been touched on in many threads. How many quarts have you stock piled? How long will this last considering your driving and OCI? Last night the Elves smiled upon me and my local AZ had 15 quarts of M04. This brings me to about: M02 - 10 qts M03 - 12 qts M04 - 29 qts M05 - 0 qts total 51...

    Champion Lab's Ecore design

So Champion has a new "Ecore" design. I assume all of their Super Tech filters are of this new design. Are the STP filters of this same "Ecore" design? Can I find the old design somewhere at a reasonable price?
