Had a guy tell me that syn can form a ridge in a cylinder 'cause it doesn't burn off as easily as regular oil. Haven't seen any in several motorcycle engines I've torn into that were run on synthetic. Anybody else hear of/ see this?

HD is specifying the Syn 3 20w-50 in engine, primary, & tranny. It even comes as the initial fill in all three holes in the SE 103 bikes.

Has anybody that's been running HD Syn 3, Amsoil, or Mobil 1 V-Twin in their tranny had a used oil analysis performed? Wondering how quickly/ far down they are shearing, especially since hearing numerous reports of early tranny problems after switching from gear oil to the engine oil.

'87 Evo Softail, >100k miles. Mobil 1 15w-50 Red, now Gold, cap in motor, Mobil 1 or Castrol Syntec 75w-90 in tranny, Ford ATF in primary, NAPA Gold oil filter.

I figgered they got the Twinkie moniker 'cause of the "if HD sez so, it gots to be true" crowd that buys 'em. FWIW, there ain't enough difference between the Mobil 1 V-twin and the new 15w-50 gold cap to justify the cost if you're changing oils at 3k miles or so.

Got the analyses from Butler Machinery in my e-mail today. They ran Mobil 1 V-Twin 20w-50, Mobil 1 15w-50 Ext Perf, HD Syn 3 20w-50, and Mobil 1 MX4t 10w-40. How do I go about posting the results, or getting them added to the site library?
