One car done and a few more to go... My wife's SUV takes 0w20 but Mobil has two types... Extended Performance and Advanced Fuel Economy. I have the Advanced on my Lexus (0w20) and have not seen any improvement on mileage. Can someone help me with the difference between these two flavors on...

    Boxster S Oil Change

I did the oil change today using Mobil 1 0W40. Did the Italian Tune up yesterday and the car is running perfectly. Very quiet at idle and not a single ping or anything else. Just the light purr of the engine. Thanks to everyone for the advice and could not be happier!

    Synthetic Oil Change

Does anyone go beyond 1 year on a synthetic oil change? For one of my cars, I am putting very low miles (less than 5k miles in a year) on it.

The video in one of the posts provides what it takes to change the oil. I bought the tools and the ramps, filters drain plug gasket. The oil was the final step. I will reply after completed but expect this process to be a snap. As I am sure you can tell, I baby the car and let it idle for a...

I will definitely do the "Italian Tune-up" before changing the oil. Since it may be nice this Thursday (50+), I may try to get it done. However, I am not going to redline it as I fear hurting the engine. M1 0W40 + Hengst Filter.... Thanks everyone and I will be posting for my other cars in...

I did a search and get the Italian tune-up. Yes, I do give it one of those every once in a while. Sounds like Mobil 1 0W40 is the way to go for the Porsche. Afraid to try anything else at this point. Plan to try the Royal Purple and Castrol Edge in other cars and see what happens.

In response to the video, I saw it and decided to try it. He is using Mobil 1 HM 10w40. I got the same ramps and tools, filter.... looks easy to me. Relating to the Italian Tune-up, what is that exactly?

I take my car to a Porsche specialized shop. Whether it's this place or the dealer, the cost is over $200. Frankly, I have yet to do it myself but it does not look any harder than changing the oil in my Lexus. My guess is that happens to be the going rate and I did it for several years without...

    2001 Boxster S 19,000

The car takes 10 quarts and I bought 12 filters online for my 4 cars. My Lexus LS460 also takes 10 but not nearly as expensive (when you pay to have it done) to change as the Porsche.

I have not but read that some oils help the car purrrr...... Since Mobil 1 has been in the car, wondering if another will help with this or not. As I have read, Royal Purple apparently helped but I am reluctant to try it.
