I use at the moment 20-50 Schaeffer's racing oil, and on the bottle it says also for V-Twin motorcycles, schaeffer's is a good oil, my K&N Dist. wants me to try this 15-50 synthetic called Alisyn, he beleives it is one of the best if not hte best oil out thier, but too each his own, just do...

I do not know abour 15-40 rotella, but Delo will be making two 15-40 oils, the old Delo and the new LE 15-40 for the 2007 and newer vehicles. Ron

If I mix for example 1qt 10-30 and 1 qt 20-50 of the same oil would that be a 15-40 or just a mix of two different weights?? Ron

I would and do use Motorcraft's Mercon V for your application, just my 02's Ron

I beleive your 97 explorer does call for Merc V, IMHO that is as great fluid from Motortcraft, it is my understanding that it is a syn blend. Ron

Thanks for the info Gary, and yes you have just confirmed that I have been spinning my wheels trying to find a by pass filter with those thread sizes other than Amsoil, I will give them a call and get a new one from them, again thanks. Ron
