    Castrol Edge 10w-60/ 6k miles/ BMW M3 S65 V8

Quote: Does this car spec 10w60 or do you drive hard? if the car can use 10w60 in this weather i say use it. 0w40 m1 is a good oil though too. It specs 10w-60. In Seattle area temps haven't been too bad. Originally Posted By: Brybo86 What oil was used in the previous uoa? U drive hard on a...

    Castrol Edge 10w-60, 14k,'09 BMW M3

Probably a better oil from all I've read than castrol. To be honest I bought off on "designed for BMW" castrol advertises and feeling a bit of remorse after reading more comps. after I pulled the trigger. Just really hoping to cut those lead levels in half or more.

    Castrol Edge 10w-60, 14k,'09 BMW M3

I know my lead is high at 18. I'm hoping my switch to castrol 0w40 will improve my lead count. Other M3 drivers have switched to a 0w40 oil and cut their lead levels in half. I'm going to pull a sample at 5k and see if my numbers improve. Code: Oil Castrol 10w-60 Miles in use 14k...

Mercedes gl 450 and amsoil euro 5w30

Mileage wise probably 3k per qt, service intervals are like 12k. I have used both Amsoil 5w40 with similar results as far as consumption. I have not tried mobile 1 0w40. I switched to ams because I thought it was a better product, but no so sure on that anymore. I did know mobile 1 is the oil of...

Mercedes gl 450 and amsoil euro 5w30

Considering Amsoil euro 5w30 for my wife's gl450 with around 75k. Her v8 loves to burn oil and I'm thinking with a fire point of 260 should help bring down the amount of oil she's burning. I have used the 5w40 Amsoil and it really seems to drink that stuff fairly fast with its fire point is...

The confusion around BMW M oils continues

Yes positive. Its garaged so I would spot if I was leaking, plus the smell is extremely distinct. I have been using the service warning as to when it's time to change. I'm not even sure what the intervals are between changes. My ignorance is kind of embarrassing. From what I have read it's very...

The confusion around BMW M oils continues

Just realized who I was talking to.... Your on every oil post on the m3 forum. Given my situation what would you do if you were in my shoes. Planning to have a blackstone report done with this oil change to see how I'm doing, but I really don't beat my ride. I'm on the freeway the majority of...

The confusion around BMW M oils continues

What made you switch to M1? I see your in IL. and with your winter I'm sure the M1 has been more than necessary. I have always burned oil since I purchased the car with 29k miles. I burn like 2 qts between changes. I'm not sure if it's my driving habits during warm up or if it's how the car was...

The confusion around BMW M oils continues

I'm up for an oil change and am thinking of mixing my castrol 10w60 with either castrol 0w30 or 0w40 which I hear is new. My engine in the winter rarely hits 210 degrees so I'm thinking the 10w60 is too thick. As summer approaches I tend to burn oil, so as I do I'm thinking I will add 10w60 as...
