2GR-FE High Mileage Switch to Synthetic

Thanks for all the advice. I think since I don't know how long I'll keep the car, I'd rather not poke the hornet's nest, even if the hornet's nest is a figment of my imagination. At the end of the day, the biggest driver for me to switch to synthetic is my large supply of synthetic and no car...

2GR-FE High Mileage Switch to Synthetic

Hello BITOGers I used to read this board religiously, but switched our cars to EVs over the past 5 years and thus I have been away from this place for awhile. We're switching out our extra third car to an 07 RX350 with the 2GR-FE engine. Going through the records the PO provided, throughout the...

    BMW 5W30 -- 10K Miles -- 13 BMW 335i w/ N55

Previous owner of my e92 328i had it serviced at a local shop. Unknown mileage on the filter, but the sticker on the windshield showed the oil change wasn't due for another 2k. Filter was badly deformed when I pulled it. Based on the markings, I believe it was kn. You can see the center of...

    Engine shots - 07 Accord @ 100k miles

Cam lobe wear on the k24 is normal. Every single picture I've seen of a k24 has the same wear. I adjusted the wife's 2005 TSX k24 valves at 135k. Majority of them were loose and out of spec. After adjustment, it's like a brand new car. Engine revs much easier, pulls harder, runs quieter.

Dallas mayor sues cop/firefighter pension plan

I worked in the City of Los Angeles for a couple of years and did a couple of salary surveys. The results showed that the average pay was decently high - $90,000 per year inclusive of various bonuses and overtime. Overtime represented a significant portion of total payroll, with Fire and...

    8th gen Honda accord's

8th gen accord drives like a boat compared to the 7th gen accord. The size is way bigger, the Honda steering feel is vastly muted, and the handling is not as crisp. The gf (now wife) had the 2007 Honda Accord 4 cyl since new, which has been passed around her family and we still drive when we...

    GM 6L45R Auto Tranny - Change Fluid @ 190k?

There is a drain plug, but you won't get nearly as much out vs removing the entire pan. I'm not comfortable with the evac of fluid via the cooler route (not even sure where it's located on this car), and would rather do the drain/fill dilution method. Unfortunately there is no dipstick or fill...

    GM 6L45R Auto Tranny - Change Fluid @ 190k?

Picked up a used 3rd car for fun - 2007 BMW 328i coupe with the GM GA6L45R unit which is also used in the Cadillac ATS. Car has 190k miles. No prior records came with the car, but Carfax shows the car was maintained by BMW dealers until 130k miles. None of the carfax records show that the car...

    Cooper CS5 review

Ive had the CS5 Grand Touring on my Fiat 500e (electric) for about 500 miles now. Very very smooth ride, super quiet. Better than the CS3s we put on the wifes accord several years back. The CS3s so far have about 20k miles, tire tread is at 8/32" so should hopefully hit the 50k mark. I was very...

Why no vehicle safety inspection in CA ?

    Pennzoil Platinum started leaking

Every time someone mentions that syn caused an oil leak, you get two camps-the first that says yup that is why you don't use syn in a hm vehicle that hasn't had syn before, and the other is those who say you should be replacing the leaky seals anyways. I'm in the former, and had the same...

    2004 Acura TSX recommendations?

Fellow TSX 1ST GEN owner here, 05 117k 5at (wife's car) Previous owner took the car to random oil change places, including the Acura dealer here and there. Dealer invoice showed 5w20 was put in, although the car was never back specced like other Hondas. I've been running whatever name brand...

    Another Quick Lube Story...

I did - oil level was 1/4 below the full mark. Either their overfilled or my dad exaggerated the amount of oil that was on the floor. When I took a look, there a small puddle about 4 inches long.

    Another Quick Lube Story...

While at my parents place last night, they casually mentioned that my mom's Prius was leaking oil. In fact, it only started leaking the past day or so after my mom got an oil change at the local gas station. My dad mentioned he had to wipe it off the garage floor and it was like a line going...

    2007 Accord - Shock Recommendations

Had Monroe on my e36 m3. They were okay, actually said the shocks were made in Europe (I think Spain or Belgium) Tokico blues have horrid reviews for the tsx, which is similar to the accord. My moms old coworker was married to the owner of Tokico, I'll ask if she heard about the bankruptcy...
