Alternative to 10w30 for my 1998 V6 Buick.

In my back yard, & next to a 1948 (I think) Buick at a car meet. Nearly all American cars not officially exported to the UK are left hand drive. Not a problem even in crowded city streets. Thousands of lhd trucks come here delivering stuff from Europe every week. Claud.

Alternative to 10w30 for my 1998 V6 Buick.

It seems 10w30 is virtually unobtainable in the UK lately. My 1998 3800 V6 buick is due an oil change. Would 5w30 work? The engine has 150k miles behind it, and runs like new. Claud.

Grandma did 3x the work - Funny

In my grandmothers day cocaine and heroin was sold over the counter at pharmaceutical stores, Cannabis was perfectly legal to grow and use. I don't recall reading or hearing of a massive drug related crime problem back then. Serious organised crime in the USA took off after Prohibition too. Claud.

    Engines with questionable designs

Historic bad designs that stick in my mind were the Triumph Stag V8 and its L4 derivative. One row of head bolts perpendicular to the block, the other row studs at 45 degrees. Supposed to be removable, yeah right, steel studs in an aluminum head and guess what?, a blown head gasket. I've seen...

Whats in Your Roadside Motorcycle Tire Repair Kit?

Mostly breakdown insurance and a cell phone seems to be necessary for modern bikes and cars. Many cars don't even carry a spare tire, not even a get-you-home donut, today. Instead they have an instant repair goo and a mini pump many owners don't have a clue how to use. Claud.

Wooden handles, do you replace or buy a new tool?

Sorry for an old timer suggestion: was it customary for wooden handles to be set in water to make the wood "inflate"? ..this was of course after the wedge.... Also, did you had to threat/sand the surface of any handle to bring it to your desired finish? I was advised to leave new handles to...
