Is the Toyota 0w-20 recommendation for CAFE?

well I have the same engine from the Camry and rav4 a 2ar-fe 4 cylinder ,it calls for 0w20/5w20 for the usa,but they do give u wiggle room for adding a sentence in the manual,a higher viscosity would be "BETTER" suited if driven in high speed or extreme load. I've been using Pennzoil platinum...

    0W oil is a waste

from what I heard 0w and 5w only take effect when the temps hit 32 and below Fahrenheit.im not sure where I read this but there is no real advantage and if there is its very miniscule. even in manuals that call for 0w always states its great for starting in "cold" temperature.

Can thicker oil cause shifting problems?

I should have been more specific I meant to say if the motor oil is thicker then required but no harm is being done to the engine, does the tranny feel different or behave differently shifting smoothly from one gear to the next(automatic)cuz of what is in the engine(thicker oil) or could one have...

Can thicker oil cause shifting problems?

This is probably a dumb question but can a thicker oil then required cause your tranny to shift abnormally,or does one have nothing to do with another?

To determine if SAE 5W-20 oils provide the same level of protection as SAE 5W-30 oils, Dagenham Motors in England, one of the largest Ford dealers in Europe, was consulted. SAE 5W-30 is required for warranty purposes in England, and SAE 5W-20 is not even available. If SAE 5W-20 were better for...
