used cooking oil in diesel engine?

For heating his drum, get one of those heating wraps, I use one in the winter for "drying" out my WMO and they work great. Grease car should sell them and of course, Ebay. They average $120.

Used engine oil instead of WVO?

See sig, I run 70-100% WMO/Transmission oil/Hydraulic oil and jet fuel all the time. If you filter and prep it properly, then the risks are reduced. Sure, you will have to clean injectors at some point but big deal. I average 30 gallons a week and have done so since November and haven't...

    Using methonal to cut WMO?

Thanks Shannow but way too much work, lol. I'll just let the guy keep it, he's adding it to his gas car. Methanol in engine oil? I also don't want to mix WVO and WMO, they can form some viscous sludge and weird build in the fuel system and internally in the engine.

Could the 3800 remain competitive w/modern tech?

The 3.8 has to be one of my favourite GM engines and personally, a few tweaks would keep it with the newer engines. The S/C versions were good but the turbo version in the Anniversary T/A was sick.

    Using methonal to cut WMO?

Thanks guys, I'll stick with my gas and waste oils routine. Originally Posted By: Astro14 Wait, you're putting gasoline in your van's diesel fuel? And now you want to cut the diesel fuel with methanol? Do you hate this van? Are you hoping the engine will fail from preignition? You really...

    Using methonal to cut WMO?

I have access to probably 100 gallons of methonal, I currently use stale gas, mixed gas etc to cut but can't really find any info on using methonal to cut my brews. Anyone have a clue? TIA.

Four gallons tranny fluid with lucas for fuel

Use it and save some money. As long as its filtered, you'll have no issues. You could add some 2 stroke oil or another from of Lubricity as it doesn't really do well on that part but being older, it probably doesn't matter.

Mixing syn 5w40 and dino 15w40

I change it every 7500 km's but recently added a bypass filter setup, so going to go around 15K between changes.

Mixing syn 5w40 and dino 15w40

Thanks guys. I have to add a quart about every 700-1000 km's, depending on how hard I drive. I can't have it blow up yet, still building the other engine.

Mixing syn 5w40 and dino 15w40

LOL, thanks guys. Your right, it doesn't get that cold but we do get freezing temps and I just don't like the sound, hehee. Its a bugger to start on my fuels so it needs all the help it can get, I have new battery's and a starter and plug it in, plus I basically start it and hit the highway. I...

Safe to run non CJ4 oil in a 6.2 diesel-see thread

Went to Walmart in Bellingham, Rotella 5w40 is $21 a jug with a $5 mail in rebate, Delvac syn 5w40 is $18/19 a jug. Hate getting hosed for oil and additives here. One more, diesel additive, forgot the brand, silver or white container, $12 for 1 litre here, $17 for 4 litres there. [censored]?

Mixing syn 5w40 and dino 15w40

My van's rear main leaks, crank is worn down and I replaced the seal. Running dino 15w40 slows it down a ton but I can't stand how thick it is when its cold. Love running the 5w40 but I'll never have to worry about the underneath rusting, I have Rotella synthetic 5w40 and dino 15w40 so I was...

How bad is short tripping for a diesel engine?

All depends on what your driving? Any pre emission diesel is ok for short trips as the oil doesn't get polluted with water etc like a gasser and a good burn once in awhile will clean it out.

    Rotella T6 5W40 - 2011 Suzuki DL650

Interesting on the shearing, racers that used the T6 and friends with street bikes that rode/ride hard ended up with shifting issues very early on. Thanks for the report.

K@N now made in Mexico, quality took a dump!

I searched and didn't find anything, so I apologize in advance if its already been mentioned. I used to use K@N on the van, could get them locally for around $10, and upon some service work last year, the bearings etc all looked great using synthetic and changing the oil and filter every 7500...
