My mistake. Why do people rely on UOAs to conclude an oil is bad if it shows a lower viscosity index at the end of its interval; "it sheared excessively." Also, how much of your 0w40 Castrol is consumed vs other oils including the dealership castrol?

So comparing 0w40 oils with 5w40 oils, or any 0w or 5w oil for the matter, it would seem the 5w40, 5w(s) in general, aren't consumed or burned off as easily as 0w oils due to overall hths or thickness; but 0w oils might have superior base stocks and lower Noack ratings to compensate. I observed...

Has anyone posted UOAs for Pennzoil 0w40 or even the 5w40 for the matter...I'm debating on these or Redline 5w40

happy to see the bc 0w40 actually resisted shear? it resisted shear better than pennzoil platinum 5w30?

overall. i,d say its good for all intensive purposes... castrol and mobil 1 0w40 both get decent uoas depending upon circumstance...0w40 with mobil 1 synthetic 15w50 was a good idea btw!!!referencing previous post on this thread!!!

look at previous comment...there should be good Uoas for Bc castrol too...formulations would have to be similar in order for it to perform as well as it does.

Given the countless uoas done to verify that Castrol 0w40 is in fact a decent brand name oil, often pruchased at Walmart (the irony). How well is this oil able to resist burnoff. I have tested it in my previous Mk5 GLI and found it, alongside 0w30 GC to be around the same resistance to the 5w40s...

I've searched around online for 3 hours straight and still cannot find them... I can't even find the link for the thread. It was a nice little report too; complete with a graph and what may have been a couple of UOAs concerning Mobil's use in FSI and N54 engines and how it reacted to the fuel...

Well, there goes my evidence....I think the thread with a couple of uoas and even a graph for the oils trending wsa deleted recently..... Oh well...Since everyone speaks highly about it, with more uoas showing it does fine in n54s, that thread may not have been credible. Though I should mention...

Well, I'm kind of inexperienced overall in regards to motor oils; but from what I have seen out of VWvortex and other european car forums, the VAG's fsi/tsi 2.0ts and BMW's N54 engines killed M1 0w40's TBN and viscosity range. The UOAs don't disclose alot, but it seems they revealed Mobil 1...
