    Trasko

I have purchased two filters from them. Not recently though.

Yes, I like the trasko for the convienence, screw it on and just change the element. It is NOT a "toilet paper roll" replacement, the filter element is just too small to do the same job a TP roll does. It does appear to do a significantly better job that the high end FF filters, especially if...

    Trasko results

The total from Blackstone with a TBN, particle count and Dyson analysis was $60. I think I will do this a few times then just cut back to the analysis without all the extras once I get a feel for things.

    Trasko UOA

I posted it here because it is a bypass filter and I promised I would post the results here. I guess someone is getting picky baout these things.

This is my first oil change since I've owned the car. This was a fleet (rental) which I purchased at 19.3k miles. AFAIK there was no engine overhaul. The checks say it was never reported in an accident, accident etc. I bought it, drove it 250 miles home, took it to my shop and had the oil...

    heater core construction

Are heater cores soldered with lead? Would water circulated through an automobile heater core (for warming an RV) be safe to use as potable water?

    Super-Tech ST2870A - Non E-Core

LOL. I have no doubt it will be accurate enough to last for far longer than that, IF I feed it the right oil and use a filter that actually does something. Which does NOT include the cheapo *** $1 filter from the lube shop.

    Super-Tech ST2870A - Non E-Core

Gary, I am sure there are people who use lube shops who can hear their engines. I can (but I never heard startup rattle). However it is my firmly held belief that of the entire set of auto owners / drivers, well less than 5% pay any attention to their car. It is nothing more than a toaster that...

    Super-Tech ST2870A - Non E-Core

Which is pretty much my point exactly. The computer doesn't know anything about anything except your driving style. The expectation is that if you are using the recommended oil and filter they will last. Will the cheapo *** $1 filters that "meet manufacturer's specs" last 11k miles?

    Super-Tech ST2870A - Non E-Core

Yes, I can. The dashboard of my Chevy Venture told me it was OK to go 11,000 miles before changing my oil. The owners manual told me to look at the dashboard computer to decide when to change the oil. Straight from the horses computer so to speak. FG, I really do get tired of your silliness.

    Super-Tech ST2870A - Non E-Core

Gary c'mon. I can tell you from experience my wife DOESN'T HEAR the engine. AT ALL. I have no idea what she is thinking about when she drives a car, but I can tell you that the sound of the engine is NOT where her brain is at. There is a gauge on the panel right in front of her nose that...

    Super-Tech ST2870A - Non E-Core

LOL. I had my oil changed for 20 years by lube shops who used the cheapest filters, of that I am sure. Did I have any complaints? No. Why? Because I had no clue what they were putting on my car. "Have you had any customers complain about Champ Labs oil filters when you used them ?? " I'd...

Metal shavings on new Napa Gold filter

Is it a CHEAP dipstick? If so we can have a couple of 1000 word rants about not using cheap dipsticks. And of course, a million more rants about how using expensive dipsticks just isn't worth the cost. Luckily in this case you can actually SEE your dipstick so you know if it fails.

    Collapsed filter media revisited

And with a warrenty of 36K miles (on my Chevy Venture Van) it is pretty clear that no filter at all will not cause failures within the warrenty filter unless a handful of dirt is poured in the oil spout. So what in the world does that have to do with anything? On the other hand, would no...
