What are you working on today?

You got it off...All that matters. I would've weld three pieces of bar stock into a tripod then a 5/8" nut & use a slide hammer, That hard bearing race material spooks me as I've had to remove pieces of it from under my skin more than once. Couple years ago had to go to a Care Now & have a...

Finished up the Hyundai, Had to change the thermostat as the original was sticking, The run to the dealer was inconvenient but I have bad luck with aftermarket thermostats. Runs great, Customer should be pleased!

What are you working on today?

A new short block & head are fairly reasonable from the dealer. The engine/trans basically falls out of the car if you have a lift.

3mz-fe catastrophic new cam seal failure

1997 Chevy Cavalier still wont pass emissions... What now?

Command the EGR to open, Should make the engine run rough or stall at idle. EGR pintle position should read zero at idle uncommanded. If everything is good...Fuel trims etc, A bad catalyst can cause both conditions. Can't depend on early OBD2 to set a P0420!!

    Bypass Transmission Cooler

    Mix ATF conventional and synthetic?

A 4L80E will not care one way or the other....If it fails....It was going to fail regardless!! Drop the pan & do a analysis on what you see. If there is any delay into drive or reverse....The unit has mechanical issues that CANNOT be resolved with magic pixie dust!

What are you working on today?

The next day I pulled the timing cover & oil pan, A lot of metal in the pan! Pull a rod cap & the bearing was about wiped out. (No pic of the bearing insert) Quoted a new Hyundai short block, head, & timing components but the customer couldn't swing it, So I quoted a wreaking yard engine which...

How to recognize an overcharged AC system

I buy 120 pounds of R134a a year, Small potato's here in Texas. A busy general repair shop can though 500+ pounds easy. I buy in the off-season when refrigerant prices are lowest with a added discount. 134a prices have been pretty stable unlike R12 6+ years into the 134a change over. Even then...
