Current Quality of Moto Guzzi Bikes

I have two friends who have ridden strictly Guzzis for many years and they have had no problems with reliability. I rode one myself once. It ran and handled great but boy, was the gearbox clunky. Worse than my old Harley 4-speed Shovelhead Low Rider.

    Post your motorcycles gas mileage

1999 Kawasaki Vulcan Drifter, larger Rifle windshield, bags, Vance and Hines Long Shots exhaust, K&N air filter, Amsoil 10W40 m/c oil, 38mpg at 60-65, 35mpg at 75-80.

Anyone seen a full road test on the new Honda Valk

Thanks for the test of the new Valkyrie, I enjoyed reading it. I don't know anyone who owns the new version yet but knew several owners of the GL1500 Valkyrie and they all raved about them. One rider had the 6 into 6 Cobra pipes and when he got on it hard it snarled like a Porsche. I do agree...

    buying new sportbike

I would vote for the Kawasaki 650R. I have owned Kawasakis since 1979 and have had nothing but good luck with them. I haven't owned a 650R myself but a female friend did and absolutely loved it. She had absolutely no problems with it and it had plenty of power. At the present time I own a 1999...

    E-10 personal experiences

I don't recall what it said. I get a little flack on the Vulcan 1500 boards for running 87 but my mileage is actually 2-3mpg better than 91 and it never pings, overheats, or gives any other sign of being low on octane. I think one of the big problems with big twins (H-D, Kawasaki, or any other)...

Is there a single weight snythetic motorcycle oil

No 30 or 40 grades but Amsoil makes an SAE60 that they recommend for hot weather operation in Harley Shovelheads and iron jug Sportsters.

Best 20W-50, 3-Hole Oil for Harley V-Twin Tourer?

For your transmission, I would pick a regular multi-grade gear lube. My pick of the litter is Amsoil 75W90 Severe Gear lube but there are many good ones on the market. Gear oils are made to stand up to the shearing action of gears and you can go for longer change intervals.

Post Your Latest (Motorcycle) Oil Change!

Kawasaki '99 1500 Drifter, Amsoil 10w40 m/c oil and Amsoil SM103 oil filter, and I'm a little over 4,000 miles right now.

    Battery Life

My first battery in my Kawasaki Drifter 1500 went a little over 9 years and was still performing fine but I was getting nervous about the age. I attribute the long life to regular use of a Battery Tender, at least once a month during non-riding season. I think battery technology has really...

    Bell-ray 10w40 Full Syn

The trouble with synthetic blends is you don't know how much actual synthetic you're getting and it doesn't have to be much to meet gov't. standards. I've been using Amsoil full synthetic since 1983 and have always enjoyed great shifting through the full change interval, which usually runs...

    E-10 personal experiences

Kawasaki says 90 octane, it had a sticker right on the gas tank when it was delivered. But Kawasaki also lists ridiculously low gear shift points and they want the rider chugging along in high gear at 40mph. My bike rarely sees 5th until 65mph and no, it doesn't hurt my mileage. This means I...

    E-10 personal experiences

Being from MO, ethanol gas is a fact of life for me. There is one station in town that supposedly sells pure 91 octane premium. It was $3.84/gal. while 87 regular (my normal fuel) with E-10 was $3.39. I filled up with the 91 octane pure gas, felt absolutely no power increase and my mileage went...

VW Passat- Amsoil does not make a gear lube

Thanks for the replies. We're not due for a while yet but sounds like it will be Redline!

VW Passat- Amsoil does not make a gear lube

We have a 2014 VW Passat that I love with the 5 speed manual shift and although Amsoil makes an approved motor oil, they don't have an approved gear lube. I like Amsoil gear lubes ever since the first change I put in my 1983 Ford Ranger 4 speed manual pickup. Does anyone know if Amsoil plans on...

Full Synthetic after break in? - First Oil Change?

Triumphs and Harley Screaming Eagle models come from the factory with synthetic oil already installed. I have always changed my new bikes over to Amsoil in the correct grade at the first oil change and never had a problem. I'd say to your friend, "Go for it!"

Need an opinion on oil life....

I have a '99 Kawasaki 1500 Drifter with 27,000 miles on it. I changed oil in it a year ago last October and have put less than 4,000 miles on the oil change (Amsoil 10W40 MC oil and Amsoil's best oil filter). Amsoil says to change at one year no matter what the mileage. I get my oil and filters...
