    Burying the needle

My '80 gas Rabbit topped out on I-55 heading for the hospital with my wife in labor at about 4:30am. The shorter the interval between contractions the more I pressed on the gas pedal. All three of us survived the ride, delivery, and the next 30+ years and counting... I loved that car.

    RIP Earl Scruggs

Just dug out the posters. Think it was 1994, Martha White's Bluegrass at The Ryman every Tuesday from June till August. Also went in 1996. Monroe was called out for an encore at the end by Skaggs without being on the bill. Chills galore. That and seeing Ry Cooder on Maple Street in New Orleans...

    Katrina/First BITOG posts 6th anniversary

Six years out things are much better but not the same. The memories detailed in my first post here ring even more true today after subsequent close calls with other near tropical cyclone misses. All trees within reach of the house or power lines are gone pecans. By design. Same generator...

    B-12 for anxiety

Get a blood level before supplementation. If B-12 level is low, then added amounts are indicated. If levels are within range, not so much. As aging progresses, B-12 is not absorbed as readily into the gut leading to deficiencies. This is why supplementation is usually administered via injection...

What temperature do you have your A/C set on?

    62. Central unit (Trane) never stops. Cause it's hard to stop one. From May till October. Keep the filter changed and unit serviced, it's all good. Sound familiar automotive types? Life is too short. 78? What's the point? Turn it off and go commando. I'm talking south Louisiana "it's not the...
