The 2.4 is known to be an oil burner. The car care nut on YouTube recommends avoiding that engine all together. The best you can do are religious 5k oil changes.

My .02 I did the initial drain and fill on our 2010 around 100k. I have been using maxlife atf. I did 2 drain and fills at 5k-10k intervals. Never changed the filter. I plan on continuing servicing it every 30k from here on out with simple drain and fills. Maybe I'll change the filter one day...
