    Advance auto strikes again

I was at advance today getting some delvac 1300 because walmart quit stocking it. They were out too so I had the counter person get me some from the stock room. Then he asked me what kind of truck I had. When I told him it was a powerstroke he said that delvac is for dodges and that fords use...

    Delvac or Rotella

Ottomatic, Thats a great UOA! I've never seen a diesel report with such low iron and lead. Yesterday I was up at my parents house and couldn't find delvac at walmart. Today I checked the walmart near me and didnt see any. So that made my choise for me. RotellaT, at least for this service.

Im a diesel tech and a PSD owner. I agree with Hammer that it is most likely a cooler leaking. Not tring to high jack Bob's site but you should also check out www.powerstroke.org.

    Delvac or Rotella

The only difference I've noticed is that my truck uses slightly less oil with delvac. The truck has matched its best fuel milage with both oils(19.6). We use delvac at work in every vehicle, gas or diesel. The Rotella info I've read makes it sound like the best oil out there. But is it good...

    Delvac or Rotella

I have a 96 F250 powerstroke with 172,000 miles. I have used both Rotella and Delvac in the CJ formulation. Both are priced just about the same and both will be used for 5k oci. The truck uses about 1.5-2 quarts of oil in 5k. Which would you use and why.

    Dino 20w50 or HDEO 15w40

In a harley twin cam. The manual specs 20w50 or oils rated for diesel. I know many sport bike guys run 15w40 but any harleys? Would it cause a problem?

    ATF in the primary?

Fatboy, good point but $8 for syn3 would be on sale. Its more like $9.98.

    Cheaper oil changes.

My twin cam electraglide has always had harley oil and filter changes, some syn3 and some dino 20w50. This time I got a Napa gold black filter and 4 qts of pennnzoil 20w50 in the yellow bottle. I figured it did so well in my wifes car, why not give it a shot. The whole deal cost me 12-13 bucks...

    Napa vs. Carquest

I know they are both Wix made filters, but is anything else different? Napa wants $22 for the FL1995 motorcraft sized filter for my truck, while Carquest is around $18. With my discount the Carquest filter is $9. Why such a price jump to get it in black paint?

    Ford Diesel 6.0 Vs 6.4

The newer 6.0l powerstroke is a good engine that I would trust if the price was right. If it were my choice I'd get the 6.4 because its common rail and has more of a warrenty. I drive a F250 with a 7.3 and I'd gladly buy another Ford, 6.0 or 6.4.

    Amsoil MCF/MCV Gear Tests

I think amsoil is most likly testing their protucts more then any other company. They have make sure they can meet that 25k drain statment. As for MCV, I've used it my harley and was happy on all counts, fuel mileage was great. But I currently use dino oil at 3k cahnges because its hard for me...

    Harley engine life.

I went on a ride today with the local HOG chapter. I started asking people about their service practices. One man had 98,000 on a 97 roadking using bel-ray 20w50 semi syn at 5k changes. Another woman said she only uses harley oils at 3k changes, she had 145,000 on a early 90's ultra classic. For...

    castrol gtx

I used It for 3k in my superglide TC88. It was just as good as harley oil. I can get harley oil for dealer cost but I still wont use it be cause they wont release any specs.

    Advance auto parts sucks.

I go to advance because of the selection and high stock. But today I was unable to find a FL820 motorcraft oil filter. Four (yes four) workers stood at one register having a conversation in a language other then the one spoke in the rest of the country. I had to finally stop them to ask for a...

    Oil Weight & The 100K (Myth?)>?

WOW, I just read this whole post. Now my head hurts and I have no clue if 5w20 or 5w30 or 15w40 makes any difference. But I will ask if anyone has first hand milage numbers on 5w20 over 100k,150k or higher. I wonder if this site was here when 5w30 came out if we would have year long 10 page post?

    New 6.7L Cummins

If its like the new 6.4 ford you can turn off the key and go inside. The engine will run until turbo temp is right and the shut off. Great feature if you ask me. Wish I had that on my 7.3.

    How's the current SM pennzoil?

Best all around diesel oil filter

I like Wix,Napa or carquest for aftermarket. But I would use OEM if its easy to find and priced ok. We put Donaldson or carquest on our cummins engines at work. We also use mobil delvac super 1300 15w40. Cummins makes a good engine.
