    Anybody else use Partstree?

I order parts from partstree, ereplacementparts or repairclinic. Partstree has excellent parts breakdown pictures.

    40:1 instead 32:1

Correct me if wrong here, Adjusting the mixture screws on let's say a weed trimmer, does not change the oil/fuel ratio entering the engine. The mixture screw controls the "amount" of fuel mixing with the air. Turning a mixture screw in reduces the amount of fuel mixing with air so that would be...

    Briggs 3.5 HP valve noise

Sounds to me like there is a little to much clearence between the valve stem and the valve lifter. I have never seen a valve rotator on a sm engine.

    2 stroke oil confusion

I do not see any reason to worry. I believe part of the reason ashless oil is used in outboards is to lessen pollution in water. Ash is non-combustible. Plus it says it can be used in OPE's.

    a good 30w oil

I use Rotella T6 5w-40 synthetic in all of my mowers and mowers I work on. As long as the oil is kept at the proper level and changed per useage, brand of oil is really a personal preference.

Is there any harm in mixing Mobil High mileage 5w-30 and Vavoline Dura blend 5w-30? I am switching to Mobil high mileage and have two qts of the Vavoline left over from a previous change. Thanks

    have I made a mistake using shell 10w30 ?

I say he is wrong. To my knowledge oil foaming in a small engine is due to the crankcase being over filled with oil, not the detergents. Foaming can cause lack of lubrication. Your engine failure was not due to using a 10w-30 oil, unless it was low on oil or overfilled. Which you indicate that...

    When to replace spindle bearings?

If the dry spindles spin smoothly and there is no side to side movement of the spindle, you could just regrease them. A grease needle for grease guns works well for this.

Rivet for pulley brake pad on Toro rider

You could use the rivets you have by using a hammer and an object that is a little larger than the hole of the rivet (preferably with a tapered end like a metal punch). Tap the object into the end of the rivet until the pad is secure. Small bolt and nut would also work. Be sure to use a lock...
