Honda Pilot OCI - Pennzoil Platinum

I have a 2012 Pilot with 130,000 miles. I usually do oil changes at about 40% MM. Our Pilot tows utility trailers and a 2500 lb pop-up camper throughout the year. I have not disabled VCM.....yet. The Pilot has run Amsoil SS and XL, M1, Castrol, and PP in 0w-20 and sometimes 0w-30 for oil with...

Which oil and how often- 2019 Terrain

I've decided on 5k intervals on my GDI engine based on what I've researched here and elsewhere. This and an oil that meets your cars specifications will produce a healthy engine surrounded by a bucket of rust in about 15 Michigan winters. Enjoy.

    Changing ATF's and Shifting Behavior

Sayjac, I wouldn't make the assumption that it's the type/brand or fluid. I think it's mostly just that it's NEW fluid.

    Changing ATF's and Shifting Behavior

I can feel it. There is no doubt. I had a full flush and replace on my 2012 Honda Pilot with Valvoline MaxLife @ 75,000 miles, drain/fill with Honda DW-1 at 109,000 and just did a drain/fill with Valvoline Maxlife at 130,000. After this last drain/fill the shifting is way better in all respects...

Trying to decide on an oil for new Subaru Forester

Thanks Gonz. I have a Napa Gold 7055 that I may just try, along with the blue Subaru filters that are being shipped. I'll be sure to screw that Napa/Wix on tight.

Trying to decide on an oil for new Subaru Forester

Yes, I'm using the Fram Ultra on my Pilot. Funny thing is, if I wasn't concerned about the bypass PSI, I could use the SAME filter in the Subaru and Honda. But I have yet to find conclusive evidence that the bypass spec doesn't matter. There are passionate debates on both sides. I will, however...

Pies: which ones do you love?

Only fruit pies, but not apple. I'm not into "spicy" pies. Don't get me started on the gelatinous goo with pecans on top that I'm forced to eat at every gathering on my wife's side. Cherry, Blueberry or the traditional family pie handed down from the Nebraska dirt farmers in my pedigree -...

Trying to decide on an oil for new Subaru Forester

How I stopped worrying and learned to love BITOG. So I decided to just get the M1 Extended Performance that I was originally planning on using. However, I screwed up at WM and grabbed M1 Extended Performance High Mileage. I knew I saw the EP for two dollars cheaper on their website. I even...

Trying to decide on an oil for new Subaru Forester

Thanks for all the replies. I left out some important info. The car is usually driven by my wife - just 5 miles in the morning, then probably 10 more with errands later in the day. And it gets remote started 4 or 5 times a week for 5 minutes on the cold WI mornings. I know, not ideal. I have not...

Trying to decide on an oil for new Subaru Forester

Hi. I've been doing a fairly obsessive amount of research on what I want to run on our 2019 Forester. First oil change is coming up. I've never owned a car with so many oil mysteries that can't seem to be agreed upon. There is the oil filter bypass PSI issue and the new DI and possible fuel...

    2012 Pilot oil question

I'm in Milwaukee so it's a bit warmer than the nether regions up North. We do spend a good bit of time in Northern MN and Northern WI during the winter. In the past few years we have encountered -18 to -22 for a few days each winter in those Northern areas, that's the coldest we drive in and...

    2012 Pilot oil question

Mclasser, thanks for the optimistic words. I think it'll be fine, too. Can I ask why you ran the 0w30? I did it because I'm cheap and wanted to get rid of the jug that was probably pushing 4 years old. Did you have a specific reason for using it? Slacktide, I have read about the VCMuzzler. I...

    2012 Pilot oil question

Hey all, I'm a BITOG lurker, I've spent many hours reading the forum, which made me feel comfortable mixing oils on my latest oil change. I just want to pick the collective BITOG brain on my frankenoil mixture. My maintenance minder just hit 30% which is when I usually change it. This time...
