Pentofrost A4 (pink) for topping off newer Toyota Corolla

My coolant level has been right at the minimum mark (no leaks, still on factory fill), so I'd like to top off for peace of mind. Any objections about using Pentosin Pentofrost A4 50/50 over the Toyota SLLC? Everything I've read said it's an equivalent (silicate/borate/amine/nitrate free and...

Replaced motor mounts, with a slight mishap

Thanks. I drove it back onto the ramps to eyeball and jiggle it; didn't see any cracks or extra deflection, so I'm going to call it done.

Replaced motor mounts, with a slight mishap

I replaced the motor and torque mounts on my '09 Nissan Versa yesterday in the following order: rear/lower torque mount (#5), main engine mount (#1), transmission mount (#8), and then the upper torque mount (#9) (numbers referenced by the page upload). I was on a driveway with a slight...

2012 Silverado lunges forward while braking to a stop

Just my random experience: last year my passenger car experienced a lounge forward per se when I was almost to a full stop. It only happened once, but I checked it out the next day and discovered that my brake fluid had gotten really dirty, and probably contaminated due to the extremely humid...

    VWB

I'd use it, but Havoline or Quaker State is less expensive.

Who peforms the service on your car?

I usually try to do as much as I feel comfortable with doing with the tools I have. I don't always get it right though, and have had some things come back to bite me, but live and learn.

Trying to diagnose a front-end clunk

That's true, I did - it was doing it in neutral and in gear, but after driving around today it was just doing it in gear. Either way, I'm probably facing a transmission issue.

Trying to diagnose a front-end clunk

Quick update: I took the passenger-side brakes off, re-mounted the rotor and re-lubed the caliper guiding pins. The bottom pin was actually stuck, so I had to force it out with vice grips and replace the little pin bushing so it could be reinserted back into the caliper (also replaced the outer...

Trying to diagnose a front-end clunk

The CV boots are in-tact, and there's no clunking/knocking when turning; I was thinking maybe the driveshaft extension itself was bowed/warped or the splines were chipped. Ball joints looked good, and there was no play. I think it's easier to just replace the control arm than the ball joint...

    Accord drain and refill question

Sounds like it would barely rinse the pan and would be a waste. I would opt for doing second drain and fill instead.

Trying to diagnose a front-end clunk

My car: 09 Nissan Versa (A/T), 108,000 miles I've recently had the motor mounts, control arms and one of my driveshafts replaced (and I think they replaced a tie-rod end without telling me), but I'm hearing a clunk from what sounds like the center of the car when I come to a complete stop...

How much of a beating can front suspension handle?

I've recently had some front-end work done (new control arms and a new CV shaft), and I've always been extremely paranoid about checking underneath my car after hitting bumps and the occasional but unavoidable small pothole to make sure nothing was posted or broken. Notwithstanding large craters...

Accept paypal as payment for motorcycle?

I don't think I would. If the buyer gets a wild hair or is unscrupulous, they could put in a claim that might hold up the funds or possibly have them reversed, not to mention any money you'd lose on transaction fees. I haven't used PayPal in years so things might be different, but I can say I've...

    Hot water heater question?

I'd say give it a shot - anode rods aren't that expensive. In any case, I'd highly recommend a breaker bar with a cheater pipe, and cautiously remove the rod because it might be more disintegrated and break apart halfway.

    Fuel pump sound question

So I'm more or less not sure if this has been occurring for a while, but earlier I pulled into my driveway and it was generally quiet outside, and I could hear my fuel pump operating when I had the door open. It was really soft and not obnoxious, but a continuous"uuuweeeeeeeeeeeeee" and I don't...
