Oscillating tyre drone on two new Khumo KH17s

Quick update, I put the tyres on the back again...and noise gone. However, this time I do have a very low level drone (constant, not oscillating) which is present freewheeling or under load. This starts pretty much from 10mph all the way through the speed and rev range. No whine, no change of...

Oscillating tyre drone on two new Khumo KH17s

I spoke too soon, its started droning again I need to start swapping tyres to see which one is causing the issue and replace it. It managed 20 odd miles fine without an issue. Then on the way into town this morning it started as if it had never gone.

Oscillating tyre drone on two new Khumo KH17s

Can tyres that have been incorrectly balanced cause an oscillating drone without any vibration present ? I have a small Hyundai city car and its original Hankook K715s had seen better days. So I opted for the Khumo KH17s which are the new OEM replacements. When I hit 70 mph in top gear I get...

Hi, newbie with gear oil question

Cheers guys. I was a little concerned about the higher SAE from 85 to 90. I'm hoping this will calm down a minor noise under load when the car is fully up to temp. It’s very much like a cross between pinking and a mild grating that occurs in 3rd,4th and 5th (sounds like two washers rattling...

Hi, newbie with gear oil question

I'm based in the UK and about to change out the gear oil in an Hyundai i10 - manual box (not a model that's sold in the USA to my knowledge). The gearbox oil specification cited by Hyundai is "API Service GL-4 SAE 75W/85". Would I be ok using Castrol 75W90 Syntrans Multivehicle Oil...
