What Oil Do Most Subaru Owners Use?

My '17 Forester just hit 5,000 miles. I watched the oil level carefully for any indication of consumption. None so far. It will get a jug of Valvoline 0w20 Synthetic next week with a OEM filter and crush gasket.

First oil change on 17 Forester 2.5 w/ 376 miles

I did the first OC on my '17 Forester @ 2,500 for the following reasons: - Was curious on how easy/difficult it was, (it was very easy). - Many on the SubaruForester.org forum recommend the first OC at 1,000 mi at which point the engine is considered "broke-in." - I was watching the dipstick...

Someone should develop a smart-phone app that checks oil and sends alerts. For millennials.

Toyota Corolla very low oil level. Damaged?

Thanks all for the very good advice! I will just go ahead and replace the PVC (it has never been replaced, and switch to a higher viscosity syth' oil. I told him the car could get to 200k if he checked the oil level much more often and carry a couple of qts with him.

Toyota Corolla very low oil level. Damaged?

My son has a 2002 Corolla with 170,000 miles on it. I normally change the oil in it using MaxLife 5w20. He did not bring it by for a change for 8 months or so, and I assumed he took it to a "Quick-Change" to get it done. He was by yesterday and asked about me changing it soon being he was at...

Mixed gas in small 4 cycle engines?

That is why I really started this thread. I am considering putting some into my Yaris to see if I can get back the 2-3 mpg I lost to ethanol gas.

Mixed gas in small 4 cycle engines?

I was talking to a friend and whining about ethanol gas in small engines. He told me a trick. He said to add a small amount of marine 2 cycle oil to my mower/tiller gas and see if they do not start easier and run better. I did not have any marine spec'd 2 stroke oil, but I did have a small...

    '05 Tundra 4.7L 0w20 oil

I was changing the oil in my Tundra today. I have always used Valvoline Synthetic 5w20. As I finished draining the 5 gallon jug, I noticed it was 0w20 oil. I know this is not spec'ed by Toyota for that engine. So, should I leave it, being that cold weather is here, or drain and replace with 5w20?

What ATF for an old Acura Legend

Thanks for all the information! As I mentioned before the car is in fair condition in that it does not appear to have been well cared for. The outboard head need a new valve cover gasket. The PS fluid needs replaced, as does the brake fluid. The AC needs to be recharged. The interior is bad...

What ATF for an old Acura Legend

I got a couple of jugs of Castrol Import Multi-vehicle and I will do a "drain and fill". The car is in fair to poor condition, but the engine runs very good and there are no issues with the AT. I told the owner that with minimum investment she could get a couple more years out of it. It being...

What ATF for an old Acura Legend

That is what I hoping, but I thought there might have been some Honda spec'ed stuff that was supposed to be used. Off to WM for a couple of jugs of Dex III. Thanks.
