    Heater core lifespan?

F150 needed an evap, but it is not a common failure so I left the old one. I worry more the aftermarket evap will fail again.

How many miles do you get before you have trouble passing emissions?

Or just not being on when it should. My F150 has a blinking sequence when all the monitors are ready. I wonder if all new cars have it.

How many miles do you get before you have trouble passing emissions?

Chinazon air filter could release fibers, or allow a bit more debris, make your MAF less efficient until cleaned. Then you get P0171/P0173

    Early ball joint boot failure

The manager here in advance auto said they sell a ton of them and rarely see any warranty issues. Then again by the time a vehicle needs that, they are probably closer to the junk yard 🤣

    Early ball joint boot failure

I did my Moog Ball Joints 2 years ago on my F150 and they still look very good. It is the new design with the minimal boot. I don't drive it much, time for grease probably.

In 1983 Toyota experimented with VVTI ,Coil on Plug and VCM.

Toyota bought the hybrid patents from GE. GE RD had a hybrid car in the 70s, problem back them was battery tech. They did much to improve it obviously.

Glad I don't rely on shops for basic service.

Something always squeaks when cold on the GS350. Possibly rust buildup on the rotor or the pads. I tried cleaning everything up but it came back. Not safety because the parts look great with plenty of life. I believe it is Toyota parts, 5 years old though. I don't drive it much but very...

Would this work in spark plug boots?

Pure profit item, no warranty, etc.

Glad I don't rely on shops for basic service.

The rear brakes on my GS 350 will weld themselves. One of the pins is larger and very vulnerable. Even high heat couldn't get them to release. Definitely greasing them every year now. A few years ago I was able to get a set new Lexus calipers for under $200. Almost cheaper than reman. This...

    Coolant change for 11 F150

VC-1 instructions on the back actually say 1 flush is good. Maybe a bit of that stuff is good to have in the system? It is Tetrasodium EDTA

    Coolant change for 11 F150

Good idea. The drain and refills can be done with tap. I don't mind a bit of tap, because I read pure distilled can leach metal too. So the final refill can be distilled and there is a bit of regular water.

    Coolant change for 11 F150

Does not look like any aftermarket stat. Especially the relief hole. There is a checkball in the Ford one.

    Coolant change for 11 F150

I get good prices locally on Ford parts, and the tech talked me into buying VC-1. He looked at the truck and said its orange coolant and while you can just add yellow it is not a good idea because you don't know what the last owner may have used. He said if it was his truck - let a quart go...

Sooty deposit on half the porcelain

After the tune-up, cleaning MAF and TB, it barely ran for 30 seconds. Kept trying things before stalling. Then it smoothed out like a new truck. I disconnected the battery after. Definitely learned some bad habits over time. I have that fuel injector clean tank or many throw some PEA in the...

Sooty deposit on half the porcelain

These are 4 out of 16 on a 6.2L Ford V8 F150. I believe they are in about 80K, truck has 190ish now. Some seem to have 1/2 the insulator covered in soot, 1/2 clear (if you turn the plug, the color changes). Some very light soot on the lower metal ring. One plug came out cracked. Some plugs had...

2001 Lincoln Continental - $5000 repair estimate in front suspension & steering - reasonable?

Struts on that car can be a nightmare. The strut sits in an Aluminum cradle, and the bolts are impossible to remove. They earned their money. The 95-96 had front air shocks. That sounds like a very fair price

    Thoughts about a Rust Treatment?

Must for rust claims to have "crystals" that protect metal. May have traces of Hexavalent Chromium. I believe Phosphoric Acid turns rust into Iron Phosphate, which is quite stable.

    Thoughts about a Rust Treatment?

What if you mixed Fluid Film with "Must For Rust" (A Phosphoric Acid product with some buffering). Phosphoric Acid is used to "pickle metal" before painting. The FF will keep it on the surface and may even wick it deep into the rust. Thinking of testing this combo out on surfaces with some...

    New York Tire Inspection Rule..

This is true, a valid inspection can't be removed. NY has both a safety and emissions inspection. The shop can charge for reinspection of either/both or if you bring it back. Some shops charge, some don't. Jiffy lube inspects, obviously they don't charge because they can't make most repairs. A...

Where Is Cabin Air Filter On 98 Expedition EB? Is There One?

Sad that the F150s (and Expeditions too) didn't get one till '15 or even later. It is brutal on the evaporators
