    Mine occasionally has a slight tappet noise, but not with fresh oil in it. Lately, all iI take are short trips. Most 2-3 miles and an occasional trip of 50 miles. The following is my BMW in its current condition.

    I currently use Castrol 10w40 high mileage oil with a can of liqui moly oil saver or Mos2, I alternate. I change about once a year. as I only drive about 1,200 miles a year in it now. Less these days.

    Thanks everyone. FYI all oil changes to date have been with the dealer using Subaru blue filter and Subaru oil. Just not overly impressed with the boxer engine sound. Really like the vehicle. The eyesight safety suite is very impressive.

    Thanks, I am learning a lot about Subaru Oil and filters. BTW, I have a 7/70 zero deductible Subaru Gold Added Security Plan. We wanted to make sure all the electronics such as Navigation and Eyesight safety systems are covered. Does anyone use any oil additves?

    I have about 6,000 miles on my 2017 Subaru outback Limited. I just put Lubri-Moly Mos2 in. I felt it just may protect some on cold starts. I thought the car was broken in enough. Any opinion as the Subaru flat four is a different animal than my old BMW?
