Castrol 0w40 vs Motul XCess 8100 5w40 base oil

I stand corrected after looking into it in the book, Polymers: A Property Database... Castrol is PAO based. I'm still curious how they can sell it so cheap at Walmart?

Castrol 0w40 vs Motul XCess 8100 5w40 base oil

I recall Castrol 0w40 being mostly polyalphaolefin... But I can't seem to find out what Motul is made up of? Anyone know? Thanks!

what do you guys think of MOTUL

Nothing special IMO, it's decent oil. Check my UOA for info on it, it's 229.5 and it works. Edit: Thought I'd mention 33 dollars is CHEAP. I have 20-25 liters and I paid nearly 45-50 for each 5 liter container.

    Help Pick My Next Oil

The car is a 2002 MB E55, currently running Motul Xcess 8100 5w40... I have a UOA posted on here as well. Factory fill was Mobil 1 0w40 SL formula... Which was a pretty thick oil. Here's a spec sheet that I found to see what Mobil 1 0w40 once was...

    2002 MB E55 | Motul X-Cess 5w40 | 7,853 mi

This is my first UOA, thought I'd share... Blackstone got the engine wrong, it's the naturally aspirated engine. 99-02 E55 all had N/A engines. Would like any feedback anyone has... I'm a bit confused on why molybdenum is showing 4 ppm, Motul uses none in that oil as far as I know.

    Motul made in Italy?

I contacted Motul USA and can confirm they are now producing the oil in Italy now. I purchased 25 liters and all were made in Italy with production dates of October and November 2014. I'm more interested in a VOA now to see if anything has changed as well as an UOA.
