Pennzoil making huge changes across the lineup

They made the bottles taller, much like the Mobil and castrol bottles. Perhaps this was to make them look 'better' on the shelf, or just because shelf space costs them exposure and the taller bottles help that somewhat. The downside is the taller bottle so a bit harder to pour than the shorter...

    Most efficient filter for Impreza

Not sure which Impreza you have. Unless your at a stage3 WRX, the stock airbox flows well enough, with a media filter, which it was designed for. At Stage3, it's time for a new intake to match flow. If this is a NA impreza, you got no worries at all. Have you run a VOA to determine if you are...

    Most efficient filter for Impreza

Ditch the K&N air filter and get a quality disposable. Contaminats and oil fouling of the MAF is just not worth it. If looking for oil filter, Fram Ultra is easy to locate. Microgreen is a bit more exotic, but might be worth looking into as well.

What sounds like bad sway bar bushings...but isn't

From a safety standpoint, rule out the ball joints first. I'd be leaning toward control arm bushings, or maybe spring insulators to check next. If its pretty easy to pull the spring shock unit, I'd jack the corner and pull the wheel and spring/shock unit. At that point you can rule out the...

    2017 Subaru Forester 2.5 6M- rev hang?

Previous gen foresters benefited greatly from a shifter bushing upgrade. I'd contact kartboy.com and see if one of thier existing kits will work. I put a kartboy shifter kit in the 09 forester, and it was a world of difference. Not sure how the factory shifter feels on the newer models, but I'd...

    Post your latest oil change

2016 JGC, 3.6l. 850 miles. Drained FF. Filled with 5qts Pennzoil 5w-20 and one quart of Pennzoil 5-40 Euro. Mopar Filter. Didn't reset OLM, plan to run it down to 20-25% and then decide what's next.

    Which oil is better?

Pennzoil is clearly better, they probably spend 10x what Chevron does on advertising to tell us this. It's mighty kind of them to engage in this public service campaign so we all are aware of this. ;-)

    2003 Chevy astro van transmission:

"It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown!" Sorry couldn't resist... I had a rear diff shear a tooth or something once on the highway at 60mph. Sounded like a gunshot in the back of the wagon. Since it was a part time 4wd with FWD, I was ok untill I figured out what had happened. Junkyard rear diff...

    Saw a Yugo Today

Then there was the Danny deVito film where every one in the town drove yugos... Too lazy to google. Can't remember what the 3cyl Subaru from about the same vintage was called. Was one of the first cvt transmission cars iirc. Pretty sure the Subaru was actually built by a Korean maker and re...

    Subaru scratched bumper

Kits like scratch wizard are a pretty cheap DIY option. Take your time and it will come out ok if not great. I had a cracked bumper that I took off and had repaired at an Indy shop for pretty reasonable. For a scratch, I'd go the DIY route first. Good enough is good enough. It will probably...

    Brought home a beater today

I have seriously considered getting a 2dr Explorer Sport for a beater project. Most of them are 2wd, but some are 4wd. I have a family member who has auction access, so I look at the reports from time to time. 2dr just always struck me for some reason. Apparently, according to interwebs, fitting...

    Gearwrench vortex passthru tools

Yes, only a few times where I've had to use them instead of something else. They were cheap and on clearance when I got them, so I think they have paid for themselves. It is a very low profile ratchet set up, with minimal offset.
