So I got a new Car..Which Oil? Dart 1.4L Turbo.

Thanks for all the input. Love these forums! I'll stick with what the manual says during the warranty period. JHZR2 has the right idea. With the longer OCI cost is reasonable. But I will probably change out the oil sometime between 1-3K anyway just because I keep imagining metal shards floating...

So far only Pennzoil ultra euro 5W-40 is the only one I see explicitly stating it meets approval for MS-12991

So I got a new Car..Which Oil? Dart 1.4L Turbo.

Title says it all. Not familiar with these engines or what the demands are. Plan to do a lot of freeway driving. Likes to run 2500 RPM, can run up to 4K in a flash. Recommendation is 5W-40 synthetic, maximum 10K OCI according to the manual. Opinions?

    Quantum Blue / 5W-30/8,459 mi/Charger 3.6L V6

Here the latest oil analysis on my Charger 3.6L Pentastar. Really love the powertrain in this vehicle. 3.6L V6/8 spd ZF. Been running great for over a year no issues. Including a spreadsheet chart that I have been keeping to track wear. looks pretty good so far.

    Quantum Blue/5w30/8600 miles/ 3.6 Pentastar

Steve, I've seen you on other forums. Thanks for pitching in. Posted this because I haven't seen too many UOA's for my engine. Hopefully Chubbs1 up there will post his so we can compare. I like where the rates are going although I would have probably changed the factory sooner and done a...

    Quantum Blue/5w30/8600 miles/ 3.6 Pentastar

Yup, I have a few questions about this. The low TBN and the phosphorous, although from what I have read (not much admittedly) if phosphorous is maintained in the oil with other aditives and you do not have an oil consumption issue, then it wouldn't be harmful. I also haven't seen that on other...

    Mobil 1, 5W-30, 2012 Charger 3.6L Pentastar

I did mean change it at 16K vehicle miles, or 8K OCI as recommended in the manual. I've seen enough 10-12K UOA's that show a sufficient TBN to not worry too much about 8K. I run about 20K plus a year on my vehicle due to commuting and road trips, so safe extended use can be very helpful. That's...

    Mobil 1, 5W-30, 2012 Charger 3.6L Pentastar

Second OCI on Mobil 1 this time. It's cheap at Wal Mart! OEM Mopar filter. Based on my reading here and other UOA that I have seen here and on forums I will let it go until about 16K before the next change/analysis and then have a TBN done as well. Code: MI/HR on Oil 3,788...

    Factory Fill, 4,262, 2012 Charger 3.6L Pentastar

The copper dropped to 96 on the second analysis with 3.7K on the oil. Looks like there is interest so I'll post it soon.

    Pentastar 3.6 8000 mile OCI

If anyone is interested, I posted my UOA of the factory fill on my 2012 Charger 3.6L that I changed when the OLM indicated, 4.2K. It went off at 3.7 K but that was a Sunday evening so I had to wait until the following Saturday. It was well before the 8K mark and it was not driven hard. It's a...

    Factory Fill, 4,262, 2012 Charger 3.6L Pentastar

Here is my UOA on the factory fill changed when the OLM indicator went on (actually 3.7K but had to wait until the weekend to change it). Blackstone noted that the factory fill was lighter than the recommended 5W-30 and may have been a 5W-20. Geez! What a pain to post a UOA!! I have another on...

UOA article - what is "normal"

I am very interested in the "wear versus miles" analysis you performed, as a misunderstanding of this can be the basis for claims about oil quality and wear. From looking at your data presented, it seems that you could perform a regression analysis on your data to model the slope. This may...
