    Disposable cars

The point is: If I had not bothered to repair those cars, I'd have about 13,000 more dollars in my pocket. And the brakes needed new discs & rotors installed. Hence expensive. Water pump/timing belt costs $1200 each time. Yeah I could learn to do some of this stuff myself, just as I learned to...

What is the purpose of this? Okay I'm curious: 2006 Honda Insight, Mobil 1 5w-20 versus 5w-30 versus 0w-40

    Revamp the federal fuel tax

The Libertarian Party is generally anti-tax and would like to repeal all of them, however even the LP supports "use" taxes. Like taxes assessed on gasoline or diesel. If you drive, you are a user of the road, and pay the tax. If you don't use the roads, then you pay nothing.

    Disposable cars

I hope not..... not for a brand-new car! Those other two broken-down cars were troublefree during their first 130,000 miles. (And then they started hitting me with expensive repairs.) And if the Nissan did breakdown somewhere around 130,000, I'd just trade it for another new car (rather than...

Honda, Toyota dealers refuse Proper testdrive

I bought a manual shift Civic Hybrid for $8000 (taxed). Those two dealers lost a sale, but a private seller gained one. The Civic is not as much fun as a CRZ, but definitely better than a Prius (which has no stick shift). With the way the Federal Reserve is rapidly increasing the money supply &...

near disaster with rental car (oil related)

One quart would still be enough to keep the engine lubricated. But I wonder what the rental agency would do if the Customer was unaware, and kept driving the car until it seized? They'd probably try to stick the customer with the ~20,000 dollar bill of replacing the car, or 5000 bill to replace...

Do not perform engine, trans, injector oil flushes

Honda, Ford, GM, Nissan have all published letters to their mechanics which state "do not perform engine flushes" or transmission flushes or fuel injector cleaners. They say such flushes may kill or damage an engine or transmissions or injectors. (In other words, no "engine cleaning" additives...

    How many "CATERHAM BLEND" users?

Toyota does "not" recommend an engine flush, but that doesn't make it okay. Since I don't see it listed as a recommendation, I won't use either the flush or 0W-xx oil. See this video: http://youtu.be/MsLKNdebB6Q There HAS to be a reason why Toyota said 0W-20 is okay for Prius G2 and G3, but not...

D.I., oci more important than oil type?

Diesels are higher compression. Maybe the piston/cylinder is "tighter" and doesn't allow the fuel to get into the oil. Or maybe it's because gasoline is thin, so it more easily gets past the piston/cylinder interface into the oil (where diesel fuel would be blocked).

    Revamp the federal fuel tax

P.S. During the last 100 years, governments killed 150 million of their OWN citizens. (About 5 million of those were killed by the US or state governments.) Trusting an entity with that kind of record seems foolish to me. Even if the present government is an angel on earth, what about a future...
