What a car. Hopefully numbers will be better after some more regular driving.

    5W30, 4k, Valvoline Extended Protection 06 Sentra

@Artem that's the hope atleast, to get their oil with the best protection. @Averroes looks like the big bump in moly helped Valvoline meet the new API SP spec; I guess it would depend on what the euro specs require! @Duffyjr I wonder that too sometimes, if there are other important additives...

    5W30, 4k, Valvoline Extended Protection 06 Sentra

Even though I'm not interested in extended oil intervals, I am interested in the best wear protection. The extended protection oil claims to have better wear protection than the Max Life full synthetic I was using before, while only costing $1 more per oil change. Not sure if there is any actual...

    5W30, 4k, Valvoline Extended Protection 06 Sentra

Yeah, NP. I was curious, and I figured other people were curious about Valvoline's new Extended Protection oil. I try posting in plain text because I see a lot of old threads with broken image links. But since this image was an attachment rather than a link, it should be okay in the long run...

    5W30, 4k, Valvoline Extended Protection 06 Sentra

Hello Everyone, Here is a UOA from a 2006 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V with 181k miles. Has 2.5 qr25de engine. Oil is Valvoline extended protection, 5w30 with 4k miles. No additives, for those wondering about the moly count. 12/6 is Valvoline maxlife full synthetic 5w30 api sp, 5/29 is valvoline...

Copper colored flakes in engine oil

I use oil filters all over the place. The one I used last was a Wix filter (99% filtration at 20-ish microns) sometimes I use the super tech filters because they are so cheap and still filter 30 microns at 99%.

Copper colored flakes in engine oil

Hi everyone, an update. I just changed my oil the other day, but I only saw one large flake in the oil. Also cut open the oil filter and it looked clean inside. Photo attached of the drain pan, centered around the flake.

Copper colored flakes in engine oil

Have multiple oil analyses here: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/2006-sentra-spec-v-168k-3-8k-uoa-fuel-additive.335601/ Thanks for all the responses so far everyone, indeed hopefully is not bearing wear.

    Latest Valvoline Boutique Oil?

Valvoline Full Synthetic Maxlife was advertised as having the best protection according to Valvoline, even better than Modern Engine oil. But since this new Extended Protection came out, it is now being advertised as providing the best protection.

Copper colored flakes in engine oil

Hi all, sorry for the confusion, I'll hope to clear it up. I acquired the car used with 101k miles. It currently has 178k miles, however as far as I can remember those flakes have been present since I've been doing oil changes on it, so it's been this way for at least 50k miles. I haven't added...

Copper colored flakes in engine oil

Hi everyone, I've had some very thin, shiny, copper colored flakes in my engine oil for the past 50 or 60 thousand miles. Internet consensus from a quick google shows this might be from bearing wear (engine: 2006 QR25DE), and the engine is ready to explode at any time, but as mentioned before...

Valvoline Maxlife full synthetic chat response, asked about moly.

Hi, I’m the poster of the Sentra UOA with Valvoline Maxlife Full synthetic SN, SN plus, and SP. The SN/SN plus formulation had 61 ppm moly in my oil test. PQIA confirms that both the SN and SN plus maxlife full synthetic have around 65 ppm moly. PQIA did not test the SP formulation yet, but my...

    Liqui moly ceratec

@OVERKILL @kschachn @demarpaint I figure that RAT and other one off film strength testers don't fully simulate real engine conditions, but it's the only point of lubricity I know to compare them by. I do wish that RAT would publish his methodology, but RAT refuses for some reason. Wouldn't a...

    Upper Cylinder Lubricants?

Thanks for the feedback anyone. Would be curious if any others have tracked results over long term use. Also, I just realized that this thread is in the wrong sub-forum! It should be in " Fuels and Fuel Additives: Gasoline and Diesel " lol

    Upper Cylinder Lubricants?

Fair points carviewsonic. There is a subset of the population that run their cars long enough to necessitate engine rebuilds/new engines, I suppose that this population may practically benefit from using a UCL regularly (if they are effective). Many UCLs claim to improve cleaning power, I...

    Upper Cylinder Lubricants?

Hi Everyone, Is there any empirical evidence that upper cylinder lubricants perform their intended purpose? I'm not questioning their ability to improve cleaning power, but rather their claims to improve lubrication of the upper cylinder, help valves seat better, and improve MPG. I've tracked...

    2006 Sentra Spec-V 168k, 3.8k UOA, fuel additive

I did not add any moly additives, and as far as I know Lucas UCL contains no moly but I'm not 100% sure. I do however, have another sample with Valvoline ML FS 5w30 without the fuel additive and it had the same moly number, I guess Valvoline pumped up the moly count to help meet the API SP and...

    2006 Sentra Spec-V 168k, 3.8k UOA, fuel additive

I tried the Lucas additive because it's an upper cylinder lubricant that claims to add lubrication to the upper cylinder; I wanted to test to see if wear numbers would go down, This is Valvoline Max Full Synthetic API SP formulation; This version seems to have more Moly and less Boron compared...
