    grabbed a bottle of Ouzo

We drank a good bit of this about 17 years ago when I was in Greece (Thessaloniki) for six weeks. I second the horrible hangover.

    Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 - 6.2 LS3 - 7500 Mile OCI

From Blackstone Labs. Engine has 77k miles on it. I bought it 3.5 years ago with 28k on it. Been on a steady diet of 5W-30 full syns between Pennzoil, Quaker State, and Mobil 1 since I've owned it. Always used the GM OLM to 5% (usually between 6500-7500 miles) and changed with an AC Delco PF48...

    Finish "Hit on the Freeway"

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I honestly do not think I could sleep at night for being so angry.

Not unless we want to organize a "hunting" trip somewhere in the deep ozarks. I'll bid on a few.....

    Gas OBVIOUSLY isn't too expensive!

LOL.......we're going to outlaw fast idling but we still have NASCAR and NHRA and many other forms of wasting petroleum. Now I love F1 and motorsports in general, but it's absurd to take away from the working industry and not seem to do anything to the "entertainment" industry. And...

Bring back the military draft in the USA

IMPO (which I believe carries some weight in this issue)........no draft. After 10 years in here, I have enough problems with people who made thier own decision to enlist, let alone bring in those who would have been forced to join against thier will. If we had to deploy 100k troops right now...

How long does it take to change your oil? Be honest.

Between the screaming, cussing, wrench tossing, jamming a screwdriver through the filter to try and break it loose, realizing that you're tightening it and stripping some threads on it, rounding off the edges of the drain plug, getting scalding hot oil in every place and bodily orifice in a...

    Underfill or Overfill?

Extra 1/2 quart could be a coolant leak somewhere. As already said, it also could be fuel and condensation not being evaporated out of the oil but a 1/2 quart is alot of impurities IMO. I'm always in favor of 1/2 quart lower rather than a 1/2 higher, due to foaming/aeriation. As already said...

    the debate: 5000 dino oci

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! There you have it. At every fill up, just have the guy do a oil and filter change and it'll last as long as there's gas to be pumped. IMO.......after my own analyses from blackstone on GTX 5W-30 @ 6500-7k OCI's, a 5k change is the norm. I'm running Havoline 5W-30 @ 5k OCI's in...

    NASCAR and Japanese brands

Well, I guess F1 will get it's day in NASCAR as JP Montoya left the pinnacle of motorsports for the 500 miles of left turns. While NASCAR and F1 are 2 different sports, the technological advancement of F1 over NASCAR is pretty phenomenal. F1 in every way is more advanced. The cars are faster at...

    Toyota owners "boring"?

Started out with: 1979 Datsun P/U 4x4 1973 Chevelle SS 1985 Dodge D50 (I believe it was an '85) 1993 Dodge Dakota Sport 2000 Chevrolet Blazer 4x4 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager SE 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe 2003 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 Of all the rigs in that list, I've had the...

How many of you are following the OLM from GM ?

Very well........I suppose one has to realize the owner has to have a certain degree of common sense and ability in order to maximize the potential of the OLM. I stand somewhat corrected.

How many of you are following the OLM from GM ?

I use(d) it exclusivley on my recent 2005 Silverado and still use it on my 2005 Tahoe. It goes to somewhere between 6-7k OCI's on Castrol GTX 5W-30. IMO-If anyone here thinks that they're smarter or have more knowledge than the engineers who did the research and development who designed the...

If fram is so bad, then why is it being sold in every store I go to??

I see a buttload of opinions on here (and I'm willing to bet most of them are taken from something they heard) and very little fact on anything. Fram's reputation is just like the same crap people used to spread about Pennzoil or any other product that alot of people say is crappy because they...

    Castrol GTX 5W30, 6800 Miles, 2005 Silverado 5.3 4x4

Other than the fact that they are notorious for being a weaker transmission, I'm happy with it. GM could do better. I don't like the factory setup for shift points and firmness because it allows for enormous slippage and wear but they'll last as good as any taken care of properly. They have...

    Castrol GTX 5W30, 6800 Miles, 2005 Silverado 5.3 4x4

Lead is high?? The average is 9 PPM for 5200 miles on the oil and mine read 12 PPM with 6800 miles. The engine is just finishing it's wear-in period so I'm of the opinion that's it's doing well. There are some drastic differences (i.e. Calcium and Magnesium) but Blackstone is saying it's good...

    Castrol GTX 5W30, 6800 Miles, 2005 Silverado 5.3 4x4

18209 miles on the truck, 6800 miles on the oil, with less than 1qt make up added before the change. I used the GM OLM on this one and will continue to as long as these readings stay nice. Tranny analysis for the weak 4L60E coming around 25k miles. From Blackstone: Jason, your GM engine has...

    Havoline 5W50 SM, 5147mi, 2004 Chevy Silverado 5.3L

I just pulled a sample out on my 2005 Silvy 5.3L w/ Castrol GTX 5W-30 @ 6800 mile OCI and am waiting on the sample kit/results. I'm hoping some of my numbers will be better than yours.v Any particular reason you run 5W-50 vs 5W-30? Brakes lasting 50K isn't unusual unless you drive with both feet.
