2002 Nissan Maxima Oil Selection / Burning Issues

Ok I will change the PCV and check the tubing etc. I heard that maybe a blend oil might be good for this car? Would a straight synthetic be ok even though it might burn more of it? I do not know too much about High Mileage oils but maybe I should look into that as well?

2002 Nissan Maxima Oil Selection / Burning Issues

Our family owns a 2002 Maxima SE (Over 125k miles) and I had two questions: 1. It consumes a good bit of oil between changes. I always drain out much less that I put in, and I finally started searching and see that this is a common problem in this generation of Maxima (2000-2003). Other than...

Just wondering what you guys would recommend for a 2011 Infiniti G37x. It has a 3.7l V6 I have done some research on an Infiniti forum and people seem to be all over the place. Some use conventional some use synthetic. People are using all different brands. I have found out that the Infiniti...

    Coolant for 1993 Mazda RX-7

Thanks!! Are the phosphates in the Mazda LL pretty standard and safe for a Japanese Car coolant system? I do feel more comfortable going with factory fluids and I put very little miles on my Mazda anyway.

    Coolant for 1993 Mazda RX-7

Hey guys, Just wondering if I made the right choice about coolant for my 93 RX-7 as I will be doing a coolant flush. At first I had looked at Prestone Extended Life Coolant (the concentrate not the 50/50) which was around $13 a gallon at Wal-Mart. It says that it is phosphate, silicate, and...

OIl Change Intervals for my Specific Vehicles

I was just looking for some advice for oil change intervals for the two cars I own: 1. Subaru Impreza WRX (2.0L Turbo Boxer). I use Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 Synthtic. The car has 53,000 miles and only sees about 3-4 k miles a year. 2. 1993 Mazda RX-7 (1.3L Rotary Twin Turbo). I use Castrol GTX...

    Castrol Edge With Syntec 5W-40?

Does anyone know if this is a good oil or how much zinc/phosphorus is in it? I have a 2003 Subaru WRX (Turbo) and was thinking this might be a good oil for my car. People on my Subaru forum really like Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 but I am worried about the higher levels of Zinc and Phosphorus in it...

    Zinc/Phosphorus Environment and Catalytic Q

I know it is close to impossible to really know the answer but can anyone tell me how quickly VR1 levels of zinc/phos will kill my cats if my engine does indeed burn a good bit of oil? Even a ballpark figure would help. I just dont know if we are talking 10,000 miles or 100,000 miles.

    Zinc/Phosphorus Environment and Catalytic Q

I have heard from a very respected member on my forum that rotaries would benefit from ZDDP. I just had those two concerns about using them (Cats and Environment) but I dont know how big of an issue my concerns are.

    Zinc/Phosphorus Environment and Catalytic Q

Rotaries do burn oil by design which is why I'm worried about the environmental and catalytic converter issues of running VR1. I have been recommended VR1 by highly respected RX-7 forum members but most of them dont run cats. I have all my original cats so I was just wondering how bad I would be...

    Zinc/Phosphorus Environment and Catalytic Q

I am thinking of running Valvoline VR1 racing conventional motor oil in my 1993 Mazda RX-7 Twin Turbo (18,500 orginal miles). It is ZDDP reinforced. The levels of Zinc/Phosphorus are .14/.13. I was wondering two things. How high are those levels really? Do they pose a real threat to either the...

Fram Extra Guard Air Filter OK?

One thing I forgot to ask, my application is for a unmodified 93 RX7 Twin Turbo. It is a performance car. I do not want to go K&N or any aftermarket upgraded filter though. So is the Fram Extra Guard still ok for a performance vehicle.

Fram Extra Guard Air Filter OK?

I just got around to changing my air filter in my new 1993 Mazda RX-7 for the first time. Did not know it was going to take 1 hour of removing over 7 hoses with clamps from the factory airbox! I did not have time to go to the dealership and order a OEM filter and the only filter locally...

What engine oil for 1993 Mazda RX-7

One thing I did forget to mention is that the car only has 18,500 original miles. I am definitely not going to use junk oil in her just because I have to top off often. A good name conventional should do. People over at RX7 club are using alot of different grades of oil. 10-30/20-50 etc. Lots of...

What engine oil for 1993 Mazda RX-7

Thank you guys for the opinions so far! If anyone else would like to chime in I'm open! I am really leaning towards Castrol GTX 10W-40 but I am not completely sure yet. Is Castrol conventional going to be better than valvoline/pennzoil/quaker state/havoline conventional oils? Drew

What engine oil for 1993 Mazda RX-7

Do any of the brands that I mentioned stick out more that any other as being better? I was kinda leaning towards valvoline or castrol over quaker state/pennzoil/havoline/peak.
