NEW FEDERATED LF651F FILTER CUT OPEN

Many thanks for the C&P Sir. I am using a Federated right now on my 6.7 , along with a Racor LFS-801 bypass. Looks like I got lucky and made the best choice out of the 3. Hastings LF651 are currently on RockAuto at 10.73 . The Fed's I bought were less than 5. I've got a couple left. I also like...

Is the car hobby/enthusiast a dying breed?

A resounding NO. Now the pursuit of speed, efficiency and ultimate victory is fought with data and computer interfaces instead of a box full of Snap-On. And that goes for full on race teams as well as the garage guy.

My new rig - 1987 Ford Econoline 27' Glendale RV

15w40 and whatever FL-1A size filter you choose. It wont care. I tried an oversize filter (FL299) on my Sis-in-Law's that is similar to yours, but there was a hard line for the trans cooler in the way. YMMV. Check the tires, campers usually get replacements from age, not miles. The inner rears...

    ST6607 on Honda CR-V 2.4L

Use them up. The 7317 is the longer version, same threads and gasket size. If you cut it open, you may be surprised to find the same thimble sized element in the 7317 as the 6607 in some brand lines. If you have room, the 7317 is your choice next time. IMO, if you are going the Fram line, opt...

    20w50 for ATV

Nearly any 20w50 would work. You won't find an energy conserving label on any of them. Valvoline MC oil comes to mind first. Check AZ or Advance. If you can find Valvoline white bottle, or Castrol 20w50 (still at some WM), that would be fine as well. NAPA always has their house 20w50 in stock.

    Unusual buildings in the U.S.A.

Shell Building in STL. Yes, that Shell... Plans are to refurb to a high end hotel. Hotel I'll pass on being the person that leans out the window to raise and lower the flag.

    Post your latest oil change

15 Malibu EcoTec, 90,000 miles. Sister in law's daily driver. Out?? Had a CarQuest white can on it in service for 5k according to sticker. Pennzoil Euro AV 5w30 and AC Delco UPF64R in and on. An 8.00 oil change done and I bet it will be just fine for another 5k.

    2007 F-150 5.4L oil; question

I agree on xw30 weight, even 0w40. I see you are in TX, I think a 10w30 would do well. I tried M1 15w50 once in mine, not a failed experiment, but you could really feel that a 50 was too much.

    Downsides of an exotic daily

That title had me thinking "What downside could there be to an exotic daily?" Any way, I see high end cars every day on the way to work. Most I think, "dang that's cool" if they are following traffic patterns and flowing. Some though, weaving through traffic, loud exhausts, sudden acceleration...

Shield Choice in 06 Camry 100,000 miles

What have you been using to get to 100k and no oil burning? Seriously consider staying the course and continue using your current fill and OCI. Still feel the need to switch? Sure, Shield is a fine oil, and 5k is where I would be. I'd say the same thing about Valvoline Maxlife.

    Lee Iacocca has passed. RIP.

RIP Mr. Iacocca. You are one of my personal heroes, and an icon in the auto industry. I can't think of another person that pulled off what you did. You will be missed. If you haven't read his book "Where Have All the Leaders Gone?", you should. As timeless now as it was in 07 when published.

"Mid-grade" Gasoline Actively Blended to 89 Octane as You Pump It?

I cannot think of a station around me with a midgrade tank. All are Regular, Premium and Diesel. The pump does the work. Our Premium is 93, so it's better to go manually at the pump for me with half Regular and half Premium.
