    11 M3 / Castrol TWS 10w60 / 7,500 miles

I'm one of the guys who refused to run the BMW spec oil. I've complained up and down about how lower viscosities are better. This kind of result simply supports the notion that it's hard to hurt a modern engine/oil combination with proper care and maintenance. I still like my Redline 10W-40...

2015 Explorer Sport Ecoboost, Redline 5w-20

Here is the latest UOA on the Redline 5W-20. I switched to M1 10W-30 EP, Fram Ultra filter and another 10k run. I'll post those results in 6 months or so. Note that they call it an F150, but this is in an Explorer Sport.

2015 Explorer Sport Ecoboost, Redline 5w-20

The car is now at about 20k miles and the fuel mileage has jumped pretty significantly. My assumption is the break-in period is complete. The wife makes regular trips from PA to Virginia with the cruise control set at around 70. Used to get 21 mpg round trip, which is now 23 per the lie-o-meter...

2015 Explorer Sport Ecoboost, Redline 5w-20

I also ran 7500 mile intervals with a 50/50 mix of 10W-40 Redline and 30 weight Redline race oil in a BMW M3 that specified 10W-60 Castrol. There is a large number of people now running 40W oils in M3s originally specified to use the heavy weight Castrol. I'm not too worried about the Explorer...

2015 Explorer Sport Ecoboost, Redline 5w-20

Another Redline application. Note that I dropped the viscosity down a grade compared to Fords recommendation. Wife drives it, mostly, easy use and low loads. Replaced this fill with another crankcase of 5W-20 Redline. Car seems to like it.

    Redline Mix | Ford Focus 2.0 Ti-VCT | 9800 mi

It's my understanding that Amsoil signature series oils are quite capable of 15k OCIs. This car is used for long distance (25 and 100 mile) commutes and is easy on oil. If I can get 10k out of Redline oils, 15k for the Amsoil should be easily achieved. I'll post the next Redline UOA in roughly...

    Redline Mix | Ford Focus 2.0 Ti-VCT | 9800 mi

This is the result of my Experiment with Redline 5W-20 and Redline 10W race, mixed 80% and 20%, respectively. I wanted low viscosity (I missed) with low NOACK. Amsoil 5W-20 might have been a better choice to meet my requirements. I reloaded with the same mixture and will change at 10k. I'll...

Just got back the custom Redline UOA with 9800 miles on it.

Custom Mix of Redline 5W-20 and 10W race

Getting close to performing the UOA on this blend. I'm at 7500 miles and think I'll change it out at 9000. I was worried initially about oil consumption with such a low viscosity, but the dipstick (nice to have one of those after the BMWs) shows I haven't used more than an ounce or two.

I'm replying to this old thread because I didn't want to start a new thread for a Ford factory fill. Changed out this oil early so I could start my experiment with 80% Redline 5W-20, 20% Redline 10W race oil. I'll start a new thread when that analysis comes back in a few months.

Custom Mix of Redline 5W-20 and 10W race

I am here experimenting with oil as a hobby. Realistically, this is a new Focus, that I'll probably pass on to one of the kids to destroy in a year or two. It's pretty hard to hurt a modern engine with any motor oil if the car is operated and maintained properly and you maintain awareness of any...

Custom Mix of Redline 5W-20 and 10W race

I used to run a 50/50 mix of Redline 10W-40 street and 40W race for 7500 miles in my 450 HP BMW that regularly saw 220 degree oil temperatures. I'll take my chances with this 20 percent mix. I also drive almost exclusively highway, so I tend to get longer OCIs than most. I think we have to keep...

Custom Mix of Redline 5W-20 and 10W race

Reason for running the mix is that Redline 5W-20 VOAs previously noted viscosities closer to a 30W than a 20W. I estimated the viscosities at 40C and 100C using the Redline supplied data and came up with 40C viscosity of 46 and a 100C viscosity of 8.0 using the Widman calculator. Even at these...

Custom Mix of Redline 5W-20 and 10W race

Mix is 80% 5W-20 Redline street oil and 20% 10W Redline race oil. Being used in a plain Jane 2.0 liter Ford Focus. Any comment welcome.
