    Amsoil SS 0W-30, 13,400 miles, 2006 Mini Cooper S

Thanks brandini, but I was aware at the time of purchase. The car was out of warranty when I bought it, and I had confidence that the car would be fine with a long OCI even with an oil that didn't quite meet spec. The Amsoil warranty protection didn't even cross my mind.

    Amsoil SS 0W-30, 13,400 miles, 2006 Mini Cooper S

brandini - I've only used BMW/Castrol 5W-30 in this car except for the one run with the Amsoil, so technically I haven't been flip flopping, just randomly happened to buy a case of SS 0W-30 after I joined this forum. The service monitor in this car counts down from around 15,000 miles, so I'll...

    Amsoil SS 0W-30, 13,400 miles, 2006 Mini Cooper S

Thanks for the replies! 2013 was an abnormal year for the Mini seeing only 13k-ish miles, I bought it in early 2011 with only 13,000 miles on it, and that was my only car. It has seen a few track days and gets driven hard on a regular basis. I will be getting an analysis of the BMW 5W-30 that...

    Amsoil SS 0W-30, 13,400 miles, 2006 Mini Cooper S

Hello all! This is my first oil analysis ever, and I'm glad I did it. The Amsoil was put in the car in the middle of December 2012, and drained by the dealer at the end of December 2013. The Mini shared DD duties with my Jeep, but sat for two months in the summer due to a starting issue. My work...

1998 Jeep Cherokee (XJ) Oil Suggestions

I look forward to your results. I'm still on the bulk Valvoline 10W-30 that was in the car when I bought it, and am having trouble picking what I'll use next. You mention the car was neglected, but you must have done a great spit shine job, Jeep looks great!

    Which club are YOU in?

Back in high school all I used was Mobil 1 5W-30 (in a [censored] '93 Taurus LOL). Same thing when I got my Civic Si after that (I used the same oil). After that, I've used the cheapest oil I could find, as long as it met the mfg's requirement. When I'm done with this trial of Amsoil, I'm going...

    whats your longest oci?

The OCI in my Mini varies between 7-10k. I usually add 2qts in that time. I'll stick with this schedule for as long as I own the car.

MINI Factory Fill - 3811 Miles - 2013 Mini Cooper

I'm glad to hear that they lowered the OCI finally on these cars. My '06 goes thru about 1qt every 5k miles, and it has a 5.1qt sump, so I'm assuming some Mini's come into the dealer with ~3qts in the system. That makes me wonder about the '07+ turbo models with the smaller sump and "harder on...

    2010 Mini Cooper OCI

I bought my Mini used, but if I remember correctly, on the newer Mini's, the dealer does these once a year oil changes for free. In this situation, just listen to your service advisor. In my experiences with the BMW/Mini store here in Cincinnati, their customer service is TERRIBLE, they will...

    General oil capacity question.

When I first bought my Mini and found out it held 5.1qts, I was pretty surprised, for such a small engine that seems like a high amount. Of course BMW/Mini does promote pretty long OCI, if you follow the service computer on the dash that is... Five out of the six cars I've owned have been 4...

    General oil capacity question.

This is something that I've been wondering about for a while. On any given engine, can the oil capacity help/hurt the longevity of your OCI? For example, the new Hyundai 1.6L engine in the Accent and Veloster holds 3.5qts, where the 1.6L in the newer Mini's hold 4.4qts, keeping the actual engine...

    RP 5w/30, 2003 MINI Cooper S, 25K, 251K

As an R53 MCS owner, it gives me confidence seeing this post. I do much shorter OCI's, but still pretty comforting.
