    Orbital buffer/polisher recommendation

I've been using a Porter Cable 7424 for over a decade. I detail on the weekends, and have probably gone through at least 100 Lake Country pads in that time. The PC7424 is a serious workhorse. Yes, it's been overtaken by the Flex polisher (which I purchased early this year), but it's still a...

    Barrett Jackson Liquid Wax

I've used it, and while it's a decent product, I find that I prefer the looks I get from Meguiar's Ultimate Paste Wax. And yes, as RhondaHonda said, you know there is a premium for the BJ name.

    Clay Bar Problems

I agree with Justin and Busted -- I've only used car wash soap as my lube. Most of the time, that's Meguiar's Gold Class car wash (thanks to Costco selling it in the 192 oz size!!). I'll wash the car, rinse it, put some new water and soap in and use that as the lube. It works great, and you'll...

    Any one tried meguiar's nxt 2.0 ?

I purchased one of the NXT 2.0 kits from Wal-Mart a few weeks ago. I was in on the original NXT launch a few years back, where it seemed that NXT would be the ultimate silver bullet for virtually anything that ails your paint. It wasn't, of course, because there really is no single product that...

Switched to synthetic after my AutoRx treatments..

Believe it or not, they aren't the originals. They're approximately 18 months old at this point. Do valve cover gaskets shrink with synthetic oil?

Switched to synthetic after my AutoRx treatments..

...and now I have an oil leak! The vehicle in question (2001 Suburban 5.3 with 110k, always dino 5w-30) had completed both AutoRx treatments. For some unknown reason, a friend gave me a 6-pack of Mobil 1. I had always wanted to try Mobil 1, so I put it into the Suburban following the last...

    Wax over new car sealant?

Unfortunately a lot of the dealer 'sealant packages' are pretty overprices. If it was free, that's one thing. If any money changed hands then that's not a good thing.

Does FP60 clean the throttle body?

That makes sense. I'll definitely clean the throttle body myself -- the shop wanted $180 to do it!

Does FP60 clean the throttle body?

Ok, so the service manager isn't a total liar He did say it was dirty, and given the fact that it's seen 6 years and 130k worth of miles without being cleaned, I guess I'm not surprised. I'm assuming that a dirty throttle body means poor(er) gas mileage/performance?

Does FP60 clean the throttle body?

My car ('01 24V Taurus with 130k on it) is in the shop right now. The service manager is attempting to 'sell' me on the benefits of his fuel-injector cleaner service, saying that my throttle body is VERY dirty. I've used FP60 for almost two years on this car (every fillup, about once a week)...

Can't seem to find Super Tech 5w-20 at Wal-Mart

Honestly, I'm not sure....I don't have any more of it in the garage

Can't seem to find Super Tech 5w-20 at Wal-Mart

I don't think they have Motorcraft, but I have seen Quakerstate around $1.90 a quart. Sometimes they have the gallon jug of QS on sale, which usually brings it into the $1.70 range.

Can't seem to find Super Tech 5w-20 at Wal-Mart

G-MAN, I'm not sure how they figure out what to carry, but the two Wal-Marts nearest me always had it. It was a great deal, too, since they normally retailed it at $1.24/qt. Had I known, I would have stocked up before they dropped it! -DavidM

Can't seem to find Super Tech 5w-20 at Wal-Mart

Greggy D, Did you ever notice a drop in gas mileage with 10w-30 on the Taurus? I remember reading that one of the factors in the whole 5w-20 transition was to raise the CAFE standards at the various automakers. -DavidM

Can't seem to find Super Tech 5w-20 at Wal-Mart

It appears that Wal-Mart no longer carries Super Tech 5w-20, which I've used for a few years now on my 130k mile '01 Ford Taurus 24v. According to a few employees that I've asked, it's no longer on the 'order' list for a few of the stores in my area. Two questions: 1) Am I completely out of my...

    Just an note about FP

I'm on my 3rd gallon of FP60 (and ready to order 4 more) on my high-mileage cars: 2001 Suburban with 111k, and an '01 Duratec Taurus with 128k. The Suburban's mpg has increased slightly on the highway (from 18.2 to 18.7) on our trips down 95 South to FL. The Taurus (which only sees around town...

AutoRx Success with my high-mileage '01 Taurus 24V

I just finished up my second AutoRx treatment on my '01 Taurus (currently 120k on the odometer), and am extremely pleased with the results. Gas mileage is up 1mpg to 20 (city driving), and idle and acceleration are considerably smoother. I purchased this car in 2002, and the previous owner had...

Is ARX maintenance dose = LC?

XB70, Thanks for the links! Looks like I'll be using the LC20 as part of my maintenance routine. -Ntwrkguy1

Is ARX maintenance dose = LC?

Tried to search on this, but I must be using the wrong keywords.... Is the 2oz. ARX maintenance dose giving me the same effect as running LC? I realize that LC allows me to extend the OCI, which is good, since I've already done 2 ARX treatments. At this point, I'm just trying to figure out...

After 2 ARx treatments, do I go to synth or dino?

I am approaching the last 100 miles of my 2nd ARx treatment, and am debating switching over to Mobil 1. A brief background on the car: 2001 Ford Taurus with the 24v motor, 120,000 miles. Dino oil its' whole life, with 3k OCI. Of course, I used dino oil on both ARx treatments. Is there really...
